That store gets busy, and with the layout of the store, I can only assume that the line would form outside the store. Wonder how the security will be acting about that, if that happens...
i might be there... might go to Best Buy.

Does MacRumors give users the capability to block selected users? There are a couple users who frequently reply to my posts, derail the topic, and make this forum much less useful to me. I am considering not posting to this forum anymore because of this.

I hope this turns into a distributed computing project we can all participate in.
Older news story, October 2006: The virtual medical man (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/connected/main.jhtml?xml=/connected/2006/10/31/ecman31.xml)
Excerpt:Dr Marco Viceconti and hundreds of experts from all over the world will meet at the Universit Libre de Bruxelles to discuss the virtual physiological human, or VPH, which aims to integrate efforts to model the workings of organs in a computer to create a virtual body.
The dream is that one day, thanks to this effort, a computer model will be able to bleed like we do and see the same cascade of clotting factors go into action. Immune cells will stream to the virtual wound, and biochemical stress reactions will send chemical shockwaves rippling through the body. Simulations could be used to test new anti-scarring agents, healing pharmaceuticals or drugs to calm a wounded firefighter
The first tranche of around 50 million is expected to be announced for a decade-long European VPH effort costing around 350 million. Although it will never be possible to make a true virtual human being, from genes and proteins within cells, to substructures of cells to organs and, of course, the body as a whole, Dr Viceconti believes that even partial incarnations will help medical research.
The latest news is that the VPH has passed a real-world test: Supercomputer 'virtual human' to help fight disease (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/earth/main.jhtml?xml=/earth/2008/02/08/scihuman108.xml)
The combined supercomputing power of Britain and America has enabled scientists to simulate an Aids infection in the virtual being, so they could see how effective an Aids drug really is in blocking a key protein used by the lethal virus to multiply.
Instead of giving a patient a course of drugs and then seeing if they work, the hope is that this can be done in a virtual human first, so the patient is given the one that works.
Although, at around 8000 of computer time alone (about the same as a long range weather forecast), this calculations are too costly to use in the NHS, the price of computer power is falling all the time, he says.
Another factor is the rise of computer grids, which allow raw supercomputing power to be tapped as easily as we get electricity through a socket.

Studios upload to Apple using a custom application Apple provide them. You can read a little about the requirements for iTunes Connect here: https://itunesconnect.apple.com/WebObjects/iTunesConnect.woa/wo/0.0.0.9.7.3.1.1
The labels use iTunes Producer (I think): http://gwhiz.wordpress.com/2008/01/08/itunes-producer-under-the-hood/

No mention about safari or does that fall into the "catch all" browser category. <snip>
I'm not sure, but I suspect it does get thrown in that catch-all category, since it uses a different rendering engine from WinIE, MacIE, and Gecko (Netscape-based browsers).

i want to get a external HD to work with my 27" imac that i purchased last summer.
should i get one with Thunderbolt technology?
Also, would i hook this external up through my router or directly to the imac
neither of which have the thunderbolt connection port....
so, i'm wondering if there's any advantage getting one with TB
thanks for your thoughts
First of all, as far as I know no thunderbolt accessories are actually for sale yet. Maybe in a month or two.
I don't know of any router that has thunderbolt yet either.
Only advantage of getting a thunderbolt drive would be future compatiblity. (As long as it has multiple outputs in addition to thunderbolt, like USB/FireWire.). Thunderbolt items initially might cost too much to be worth it, at least until the price goes down.
If you want the fastest for your current mac, FireWire 800 is the way to go for your current system. USB only devices are slower, but usually cost less.

Features:
● Precisely tracking : iDataSpy can track your cellular (3G/EDGE/GPRS) , WiFi data usage and both speed every second, every minute, every day, every week, every month, even every year. The most powerful precision modifying algorithm can make iDataSpy more precise. iDataSpy, your own non-stop data guard!
● Clear at a glance : Your cellular (3G/EDGE/GPRS) and WiFi data usage are shown through bar graph. The percentage of data usage, remaining data, today's usage, total data usage in a week, total data usage in billing cycle are all clear at a glance!
● Creative functions : Remaining data 500(mb), what can it do? errrrr, Yes! You have no idea. But with the iDataSpy's original creation function ------ "The estimated time" tell you how long the remaining data can support for the continuous using of applications like: Web surfing, online-music listening, net FM, online HD video, Youtube, Skype, IM, Facetime, etc. Just download iDataSpy, have it immediately!
● Detailed logs : iDataSpy keeps every day's cellular (3G/EDGE/GPRS) and WiFi data usage, you can search and get the historical data easily.
● Three levels notification : Three levels of usage thresholds let you control your data use accurately, and you can easily customize your own thresholds.
● easy setting, easy going : It's very easy to set your billing cycle day and data allowance, once you have done, iDataSpy is now working.
● Works with all carriers : Works all over the world with all carriers.
Notes:
● Since this is the first day you use this app, the iDataSpy data usage counter might be wrong. Wait until next reset date.
● Always remember to run iDataSpy BEFORE rebooting or shutting down, otherwise traffic generated between last app start and the reboot may not be computed and data usage could be underestimated!

If you're coming from another programming language like C++ you can kind of think of the (+) functions as static member functions. And they are often used as a pseudo factory methods. For example a car class
+ (id)carWithEngine:(Engine *)engine;
vs
- (id)initWithEngine:(Engine *)engine;
+ (id)carWithEngine:(Engine *)engine;
vs
- (id)initWithEngine:(Engine *)engine;

It's an official, retail Windows disc.
I bought Win 7 on-line and downloaded it, then wrote a DVD with the iso.
But they then sent a 'Backup Disc' in the post, so I've been using that.
Actually they sent two discs, a 32 bit and a 64 bit. I've tried both.
The thought has just crossed my mind that maybe their Backup Disc is just the data, and needs to be copied to another DVD and made bootable?
There's no info with the discs.

We had one of those in school at one point, I always really liked them for some reason.
I got one for free 6-8 years ago, played around with it for a little bit. Would have been more fun if I had a bunch of old games for it.

if your machine shipped with SL you must use a disk that came from an identical machine, otherwise the disc won't hold the drivers necessary.

the sim card is the normal sim card i dont know abut my sons itunes account info i will have him check. does anyone know if you are supposed to install a brand new unused sim card.or if your used card will work.this is pre a paid card.
If it is locked to a specific carrier, it will only work with that. You need a micro-sim card to put inside the iPhone, as far this goes, I don't know how the first Gen iPhone works with it.
