That's quite a revelation to me. The tables will turn soon with Nokia crumbling.

A few things:
1. Blu-Ray Support
2. TRIM Support
3. USB 3.0
4. I love the Aero Snap feature in Windows 7. Wish OS X had it built in as well.

Err aluminum is susceptible to scratching.. have you not notice. I'm sure if Apple decides to use carbon fiber it will be well though out product. I'm looking forward this.
Obviously you've never seen a scratch from a metal snap made on a carbon fiber auto hood. The unibody aluminum used to make MBPs is much more resistant to deep scratching. Hopefully Apple will not use carbon fiber unless it does work out problems like this, but it has been known to make mistakes with material choices in the past (see Mac Cube cracking (http://www.macworld.com/article/153341/2010/08/cube_10thanniversary.html) and MacBook bezel cracking (http://www.cultofmac.com/macbook-cracked-keyboards-just-keep-on-cracking/8739)).

Sure boss, because good paying jobs are so plentiful and easy to get I should just walk off my job whenever I get the urge...
Any more words of wisdom for the masses Copernicus?
1. As adults, you're free to make your own decisions, stupid (like stealing) or brilliant, high risk or low risk, but you have to live with the consequences. Seems fair enough to me.
2. There are probably a million towns all over the world where there is a major employer and little else, including here in the USA, and people lack the means to relocate or the skills to get a different job. If you have a magic plan to make good-paying jobs available everywhere, please share, since it will be the very first time in the history of the planet.

Well it's a little (dis)comforting to know that xenophobes and racists can be found anywhere...
You realize he is talking about illegal immigrants...not immigrants don't you?
I didn't see any mention of race either.

I actually like High Life...I like all sorts of different beers, but I'm not a beer snob. I don't mind Labatt Blue or Yuengling either - some macrobrews are just fine by me.
But not Budweiser. Or PBR. Or Coors.

Because so much of the cost of a computer is the cost of the CPU? Of course not. Everyone can see there's more to an iMac than just the CPU.
Scrolling through some of your previous posts, I have to wonder why you bother with this site, you're never going to see something you like.
While the Mac is more the sum of its parts, lilo is perfectly right with his assertion. Apple doesnt want transparency that detracts from whatever they preach. Nevertheless top product though somewhat underspecced for 2k.
180 markup for i7 upgrade? Plzzzz

Yeah, I have the same feeling. I like virtual desktops myself, but they're going to be hard to make intuitive.
I thought I'd heard something about Apple Remote being integrated into Leopard-- can't remember where though... Maybe they're getting the two concepts confused? Maybe I am?
More integration of the remote into the OS would be cool, if that's true. Leave it to Apple (or Nintendo, I suppose) to configure an ordinary remote to function in a previously unexpected manner. If Apple could create a seamless way to surf the internet with the remote (motion sensor perhaps) I think it would steal even more thunder from Vista, whenever it comes out.

Part of the blame goes to Apple and their money grubbing ways, in that they want a 30% cut of gross sub $. This makes it far less attractive for publishers to do this. Also, I too would love a unified model, but I am sure Apple would also want a slice of the action here as well.
you think when amazon or any grocery store sells a magazine or a subscription, or any other avenue that they don't take a cut of the revenue? It is just rare for everyone to publicly know what that number is.

I just heard from USA TODAY that best buy store are getting 0-5 units. Obviously it depends on where you are--and this is probably bad journalism as it's not accurate, but take it as you will.
My fianc and I are numbers 8 and 9 at best buy. Still no call from them. We are going in at 10am (when they open) to wait and see what's going on.

If the iPhone is released the 12th, I really dont care exactly how it looks like or what it does, as long as I can make a call and play tunes, I will order it the second it is released.
Geez I love Apple too but I would actually care what the phone looks like and what it does. As far as you're concerned they could slap an Apple logo on a Nokia Engage and you would snatch that sucker right up. *L*

Or not! It's all falling apart again. England will be luck to get to 350 from here!
Not a bad thing, we might see a 5-day Test...
I thought Collingwood was very poorly used there, the ball was about three inches outside the line.
Bugger, there goes Struass, 350 might be a tall ask now....
297/7, Strauss out for 129.

Tuesday at 3:00 works for me. I'm guessing most of us locals will have plenty of time to get to the Moscone Center after watching MR's Keynote coverage from home or work.
Good point about doing the "big" meeting more sooner than later. And there is a certain excitement in the hall on Tuesday that starts to fade a bit by Wednesday.
PS - I'm wearing my favorite shirt, so I'll be pretty easy to recognize...

+1 from me - for liquid metal!
i love that mock-up
ah well maybe 2011; with usb3 and an extra TB port!
OLED 3D touch screen would be nice too
Nice mockup but this wouldn't have a DVD drive or a backlit keyboard. Also, I do not like the color and the screen is glossy. Gawd!!! :)

Salts of magnesium are used in fireworks, yes.
Chunks of metal? Nooooo, that would just be shrapnel. Setting magnesium metal on fire takes a lot of effort, so nobody get started on "I left my IPod in the sun for 20 minutes and it blew up!" threads.
cool... will see the inevitable return of the "man-auto-set-on-fire" urban legend... :D :D

So very true. I am one of those waiting for C2D (snipped)
Another hand raising here as a current Windows user who is holding out for a C2D. I'm dying to lay my hands on a 17" MBP, but will not buy before they go to at least that upgrade.
If it takes much longer I might as well wait until after the first of the year, or change plans and stick myself with another PC. I really, really don't want to do that, but I need a new semi-portable system.

What I want to see from WWDC:
1) New PowerMac (Mac Pro?).
2) New xServer.
3) Updates for MacBook Pros, iMac, MacBook, Mac Mini Lines.
4) New iPods.
5) Something cool and unexpected from the preview of Leopard.
6) Steve in his usual smart and practical black turtle neck.
Then I'd be happy :D
1. Most likely
2. More than likely only it's called an "xServe."
3. Possibly, no, no, no. Remember, this is a developer/professional conference. It's got nothing to do with consumer hardware or software.
4. No - not a consumer conference, wait till Apple surprise us with a special event or maybe at Apple Expo Paris if Jobs is doing a keynote.
5. Most definitely
6. But will he wear joggers (Nikes?) or socks with sandals (the "iDag" look)???

Agreed.
How can they sell a "cheap" iMac and a very expensive MP if they want large margins on their products? Shouldn't the iMac be at least 500$ more if that were the case?
And as for the "workstation" reality. I'm sure there are MP buyers that actually need Xeons over hex i7 chips. But how many. Really. Compared to the number of Mac users that want an iMac that has expansion slots.
Also, has anyone looked to the latest financials to see how many MPs have actually been sold? And how much money they gained by keeping that MP tax?
Loa
They can sell a cheap iMac because their costs are lower and crucially, that market is far larger, so they can "Make it up in volume." I would imagine that their financial analysis did not lead to a similar conclusion vis-a-vis the Mac Pro.
As to "workstation," It's Xeons because Xeons are the only way to get dual-CPU machines on the intel platform. really doesn't like overly complex product lines, so they don't want to split the Mac Pro off into a Xeon and non-Xeon configuration, having already split it off into dual and single processor lines. I imagine similar reasoning is keeping them from making the "X Mac", which is what you really seem to want.
Finally, does not release sales figures for different portions of their market - just "Portables," and "Desktops," so only they can answer that question, and they have not seen fit to do so.

Why would iPad 3 come out any sooner than next year? That would be totally stupid if they released it soon.
