Supposed to later but it looks and feels like another clear one to me. Here's hoping though.
I'm about 20 minutes from the Oval - trying to avoid the area at the mo! - and it's glorious. I doubt there's any chance of rain today
To all the US members lost here, this is the game where you can play five matches at five days a piece and still draw!! Brilliant.
And to think the Brits complain that American football takes too long :p
I do love the concept of a game that stops for tea though. In this modern age where the players are 'athletes' are they still allowed cucumber sandwiches and scones or is it all isotonic sports drinks now?

I've been reading through this thread and noticed how nearly everyone is focused on Apple entering the "cell phone" market. I can't believe how the majority of you actually feel that Apple will make a cell phone? And you're all going to ditch your RAZR when it comes out...
Apple is not going to, and will never, enter the cell phone market. They are designing a WiFi phone to compete with the new VoIP phones that are emerging: http://tools.netgear.com/skype/, http://news.zdnet.co.uk/communications/wireless/0,39020348,39187936,00.htm. Does the name "iChat Mobile" making anymore sense now?
You can quote me on that!

A couple of FYIs - A few people expressed interest in meeting again today at the Horseshoe. There's a "Best of Show" event that ends at 3:45, so the meet-up prolly won't happen until around 4:00.
If I make it today it will probably be on the late side. We decided to take the ferry over to Sausalito this morning.
Sounds like a plan, I'll probably see if I can make it to the Best of Show too so 4:00 seems better for today.

Today was a bit like the whole bloody series, first England strike out the Australia come back and so it goes.
My concern is that, up to now, the Australian bowling has been suspect, their batting so-so, but there are signs of a batting resurgence and England have one strike bowler missing with no benefit from the extra batsman....
This could go right down to the wire.
Again.

Oh, I'm not writing him off. I hope he sticks around for a long time.
When Robert Jordan, author of The Wheel of Time fantasy/adventure series of novels was told he would die before he could finish the 12th and final book in his 21-years-in-the-making series, he spent a much of his time and energy during his final two years compiling notes and telling his wife and the author who'd be hired to finish the series on how all of the plotlines should be resolved. And Christopher Hitchens, after being diagnosed with esophogeal cancer, has continued to work as much as his health permits him to because he finds value in doing so.
For those who want to read into this news one way or the other, I think it comes down to this: If Jobs considers his legacy to be of the utmost importance, then he could make this a top priority if given a terminal diagnosis. If he considers other things family, friends, his pet yorkie, his $1 nature/nurture wager with Bill Gates more important, he'd arrange to make them a priority.
The "Why now?" question can be answered one of two ways:
1. He's dying.
2. He's doing OK and has time to do so while on leave, so why not.
As long as we don't know the answer, this news just gives us something else to speculate about.
I think it is the latter tbh, Steve has never cared what anyone thinks of him bar his wife and kids so I don't believe that he simply wants to set the record straight before he dies, more likely to me he is doing it as a time filler while he is on leave as he is bored with daytime tv, gardening, reading or whatever he is doing on sick leave, I would imagine that this biography is because he is bored while on leave but not well enough to return to work

So... I don't quite get it. My boot ROM version is MB51.007D.B03 (the same as noted in the link), but I did upgrade my EFI that takes away the annoying SuperDrive sound... Does it mean that I can use 8GB or can't?
Also, does it mean that when upgrading to Lion the boot ROM version might change? I do want to upgrade to Lion since it might bring support for SSD trim (for other SSD brands) as rumoured...

Wait a minute...I think I see your problem. Just click once on you document folder and it will open very quickly.
what you are doing is simulating a right click (Click and hold the button down). this will bring up a Start menu-like interface).. I think if you right click this will happen instantly, too.... (or maybe it's option-click...I'm not on my mac at the moment, unfortunately). There is SUPPOSED to be a delay when you click and hold like that.
I've never seen Finder slow... and I'm on the same machine as you are.
(of course I may have completely misread this and be totally wrong, in which case I would ask what apps you have open, how much memory is on the machine, etc.)
Nevertheless, if one user is using the dock this way (and a Mac user at that), that means there are many others out there. And that means that a lifetime windows user going to the Apple Store and using a Mac for the first time is going to try to use the dock this way. They are going to click on the leftmost icon on the Dock, the Finder icon, expecting it to work just like the Start menu.
Maybe now that Apple trackpads have 2-finger right click, this feature of the dock should just be disabled by default if OS X detects that you are using a MacBook/Pro, or have a mouse plugged in that has a right mouse button.

That "Liquid Metal (LM)-Carbon Fiber (CF)-Liquid Metal" fusion process sounds extremely strong. Though it sounds like it would be thickening and equally as heavy as glass, and possibly even more expensive than using CF or LM separately? Correct me on this one if you please.
Even if that's the case, I can't wait to see what Apple does with this. I would very much like an iPhone that's 5x more strong than glass.
Any new news about "Transparent Alunimum (TA)"?
CF-LM-CF for the back + TA for the front = one stable, cheap, light and extremely durable phone!!!

Same hereIll have to set my location manually. (But I think the GPS issue is not due to my location, but due to an Apple bug. Lots of people on Apples boards have had it, starting with OS 3.0.)
Im hoping this app proves to be of some use (not that well ever know) OUTSIDE of big urban centers. AT&T does keep expanding their coverage in small cities and rural areas, and therefore they must be making decisions on where to spend. Having reports come in from a given location may effect those spending priorities.
So my friends who live in a dead zone will be the subject of AT&T outage reports from me. Likewise some rural relatives. Who knowsthe nearest tower may get an upgrade (or whatever) sooner as a result of reports like mine. All of the above do have a trace of signal within a block, but it peters to nothing at their actual house. So close and yet so far.
(EDIT: Id say AT&Ts online zoomable maps (http://www.wireless.att.com/coverageviewer/) are very accurate in reflecting these little local dead zones, too. Must be geography. So get taller towers please :) )
You can drag the map to the manually accurate location.

Looks nice. It would look dead sexy sitting next to a white Macbook or an older white iMac.
However, I don't think it is cool enough to try to replace my two month old (black) ViPhone 4.
I might still buy a white iPad, but my phone has a two-tone blue Incipio "sil" cover on it. In other words, you wouldn't really be able to tell if it was white very easily anyway.

These ******s are just stupid. Destroying every new gadget that comes out because they are high school dropouts with no income source... I hope they try blending butane tanks next. That would make my day!
Uh, dude these guys are geniuses. Spending $500 in order to get 10 million views on YouTube? Any company would do that in a heartbeat.

I can't believe how angry I am. I'm almost foaming at the mouth! The mothership is definitely under attack, and maybe even some babyships too!! Ships of all genders, ages and religions are under attack! Prepare for BATTLE!!
I think Apple should release a "Special Steve Announcement" immediately, just to calm me down.
:D :D :D
I finally cracked when I read this. I was wondering if anyone even remembers the bad old days.
At last, somebody who got it.
I was making fun of the days when every post related to Apple was a battle cry of this sort, and a plea to help "the Mothership." All non-believers were heathens. Being a Mac users then was surreal. You cannot say anything that remotely hinted at non-allegiance to Apple. If you think I'm exaggerating, go look for archived threads from 2000.
I was hoping somebody would get the reference. Glad I wasn't disappointed.
Back on topic: I don't really see the movie download business taking off. I want the DVD extras, and I don't think Apple will be giving them out.

I'd be all for something like this. Normal 3D displays are useless to me, I have an eye condition that doesn't allow me to see 3D. So I should at least have SOME 3D fun.
I'll second that. I am also what they now call as having "3D Blindness" where I cannot see 3D effect with glasses. This may prove to be the better way to provide 3D effect where "everyone" can experience it. Current 3D tech using glasses leaves out a good percentage of the population. Plus, no need for glasses is an advantage in itself.

I cant imagine Apple changing their design aesthetics that dramatically. Going from aluminum to carbon fibre, just like that will be very strange.
Imagine walking into an Apple store right now and instead of the silver aluminum macbooks sitting on their light wooden tables and against their aluminum panelled walls... there are these BLACK laptops.
They're gonna have to change their retail store look as well if they are going for a carbon fibre look from now on. hahaha... Carbon Fibre panelled walls and dark wood mahogany tables... that will accent the carbon fibre macbook pros pretty nice :P
