While the iPhone GPS is pretty good, it can have issues in areas with narrow streets and tall building or if you car has a windshield with a metallic coating.
Unfortunately the TomTom car kit does not support an external antenna, so it will only be marginally better.
Try a free nav app like MapQuest to see if you maintain a good lock. One thing to keep in mind is that if you leave your phone in a pouch I assume it is either in your pocket or somewhere lower in the body of the car. Simply putting the phone on the dashboard can significantly improve the GPS signal.

Why are they G3, G4, and G5 instead of 750, 7400 and 970?

As a toy collector, I would like to point out that that is not an action figure - it is a statue, note the lack of joints :p.
That said this is a bit of a non-story, company makes unauthorised likeness of someone, that person finds out about it and asks them to stop, they do.

One of my main reasons is iProtect. With this I can lock all the apps I don't want the kids (or any other unauthorized gawkers) getting into. Being able to use iFile ranks up there too.

Naw, it's just someone's opinion - maybe they were bored? I don't think that a PC maker would use that as a marketing strategy. Trying to get converts to the PC by posting long replies in obscure threads on a Mac fan site is really not effective.

I've heard that they are very similar. The aftermarket parts are chinese knockoffs and one can expect a lower quality than an OEM white backplate but unless you compare then side by side you most likely won't see a discrepancy.

Well I need to raise money for a trip to Namibia in to help children, improve their schooling and trek the 2nd largest canyon in the world. This comes to 3000. Well I'm 16, and people aren't willing to hire me much. I live in a block of flats (apartments if you will) and I'm think of getting a descent speed internet line and setting up a wireless network. The apartments are new, 5 floors, I'm the top one. What sort of coverage can I expect to get through all these walls with 30 apartments, I will be hosting it off my Powermac, what basestation, does the airport really get the best reception?
Feel free to donate I NEED it BAD! I can give you details about that, I'll even provide you with an update on what's going on with our group, pictures until the day, the 3 week stay, and the return.

I'm just back from the first ever A1 GP race at Brands Hatch. Overall a great day out and spectacular value for money compared to F1 (35 for a race day ticket on the gate, 29 in advance compared with 99 for F1). The A1 GP cars seemed to be pretty good, very fast and amazingly loud.
I saw the Russian driver spin out right in front of me. Pretty frightening as it looked like he was going to smash into the barrier and shower us with bits for a while! The races after the A1 GP were even better (Old F1 cars, Caterhams, Formula Palmer Audi and a Gineta race in the rain).
The day would have been perfect if the mupets had done something to control the traffic trying to leave the massive field they were using as parking. Instead of controlling the cars they allowed somewhere between 25 and 40 queues form all trying to point out a single exit. It must have looked a bit like half a star from above! It took 1h 45minutes from getting to the car to getting on the road!
Anyone else go?
p.s. pictures to follow...

Hi People,
I have finished editing a short film in Final Cut Pro, i exported to quicktime movie, put that in idvd and burnt a dvd. My project was shot and edited in 16:9 pro res 422 HQ
So I play it on my computer, and it looks fine; when i play it in my dvd player it appears to have been zoomed in a bit. So i use my remote control to zoom the screen out so that it appears in the middle of the screen smaller, and i can see the full frame as it was meant to be played. Ive tried playing my dvd on a different tv (all widescreen digital ones) and even through a playstation 2 and it still appears zoomed in. Please help!
