Agreed. At this point, dXTC, you might as well go ahead with the full details. Make this thread complete...
To paraphrase Jack Nicholson: "You can't handle the truth!"
Any more detail about this doesn't belong on a semi-family-friendly forum like MR. If you're that curious about this, there's always Google.

At $79 a year it will probably be 5 years before the program moves to a commonly useful level where it may have the ability to replace MS Office. The very casual Word Processor user will not have to wait very long, maybe Pages 3 or Pages 4. With the 5 X $79 = $395 we move into the price range of the non-educational price of MS Office. But for the heavy Office user, 5 years may not be long enough.
I write lengthy academic papers, am writing a play and a book which I am pretty far into. So far, I don't miss Word one bit, and that is using Pages 2.
Pages has a lot of features. It just takes some time to learn how to use it.

Sounds like a great way for any lawyer or law student with a kid to get a free $1000 app.
FYI, the article says that they didn't complete the download...you really need to download the reading comprehension app. ;)

50%? Did you forget how much Macs cost? One of the main reasons Dell has such a huge market share is because they are so cost effective and come with great bundles aimed at the average person. 50% of computer users could never afford a Mac.
He also assumes that everyone else thinks like mac users.

I had the same thing happen to me for a $5 app I didn't even want. They told me to turn on the shopping cart...I was on iPad and there is no shopping cart...but there should be one.
With an iPad they told you to turn in the shopping cart? The shopping cart hasn't existed (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1915?viewlocale=en_US) since iTunes 9: "Note: With iTunes 9.0 or later, only 1-click purchasing is available." They recommend the wish list instead, but that's much less convenient--and you have to do add things yourself rather than having them automatically go there instead of purchasing them.

WTF!
The top 3.1 Ghz 27" iMac has a cheaper i5-2400 CPU, than the low-end 27" and high-end 21.5", with both have i5-2500S processors!
(The i5-2400 is 184$ (http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=52207) and the i5-2500S is 216$ (http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=52211))
+ the 2500S can do 3.7 Ghz in turbo, and the 2400 can only 3.4 Ghz in Turbo Mode!!!???:confused:

Every time I feel regret for bad decisions I've made, I think, "Yeah, but at least I'm not stupid enough to believe Apple will start selling televisions."
Every single competitive advantage Apple could bring to market already exists inside a tiny little box called the Apple TV... a device that they actually, you know, sell.

"A colleague of mine just picked up a 16 GB iPhone 4 in white. I was a bit surprised when I picked it up off his desk (I had my black 32 GB in my other hand at the same time) it immediately felt thicker."
LOL, that's absolutely ridiculous.
Also, why is everyone feeling so sorry for the case makers...like Apple is screwing them over? It's not their responsibility to cater to the case makers.
I completely agree. No one can pick something up and "immediately" tell that it's 0.25 mm thicker than another object. I call BS.

Don't know if this has already been reported but in .Mac there are now options to sync Dashboard, Dock and Preferences.

While these Sandy Bridge processors are considerably faster in lab benchmarks, they offer no discernible real-world improvement for most users. Having used a MacBook Pro with a C2D and then one of the new Sandy Bridge, I couldn't tell the difference.
As MacBook Air owners know, it's all about the SSD speed for improving the experience for everyday users.

Good timing :)
Since my MBP arrived, I've been toying with the idea of moving the Mac Mini downstairs and hooking it up to the TV. Already bought myself a copy of Remote Buddy and a Keyspan Remote control. A bluetooth Mighty Mouse would match up nicely.
I already have a Logitech bluetooth mouse, but it requires a charging station. I'd rather keep the number of cables, docks and misc. paraphernalia down to a minimum in the living room. A basic AA-driven mouse would be great.

As a frequent user of Pages 2, I would like more toolbars and less of the 'inspector' stuff, which to me is not as convenient.
Oh my god, I hope Apple doesn't listen to you :)
