I realized last night after one of my earlier posts that the real limitation when viewing recorded video on 3G is that the upload speed on my wired internet connection at home is very slow, I think only about 350Kbps, versus 10Mbps on download. Thus, the upload speed is the real problem, not some issue with 3G or EyeTV.

I just bought two of those Seagate 750GB drives, so far so good. Won't be long before we get the 1TB drive.

That's never going to come. Microsoft has moved away from WebDAV. It's not included in Exchange 2007/2010 if I'm correct. And the only reason Windows versions of Outlook still work is that they are using MAPI currently, which I believe Microsoft is also doing away with.Exchange 2007 still supports WebDAV but 2010 does not - although installing 2007 SP3 breaks WebDAV even though MS say it should work. In any case Entourage 2008 and Outlook 2011 are both EWS compatible so there should be no WebDAV grief. Exchange 2003 will never support EWS.

unlucky. like most people have said you should have really asked for permission. my school and college were fine with me bringing in mine.
Your college has no say in the matter.
As for high school. Its up to the school to secure their network. Not allowing portable computers for high school students is just stupid. I would bring your parents to school and take the matter up with the principal. If your parents are behind your use of the computer at school to do homework, that should extact pressure on the principal to justify the schools position more fully to the parents.
I would have said no to that IT tech forcing the issue to the principal office.
So they should make an exception for you because you weren't doing anything and some teachers didn't care? Also, if it is "every other teacher", it is not just the IT guy that has a problem with it. The rules are in place for a reason and he has every right to enforce it. Ignorance of the rules is no exception. This is the way life is; a good lesson learned here.
Is this college or high school? (My guess is high school)
Also, did you get it back or get instructions as to when/how you would get it back?
That does not sound like a rule. I would force the issue to the principal and bring in your parents and even supporting teachers.

Now now, calling Budweiser a beer is a stretch as it is and calling it a lager is an insult to any properly brewed lager out there. Like someone else in this thread stated before it's a cheap diluted ricewine with hops added for something pretending to be taste. As for Chimay, never had it but if it is in the same range of products as that .... stuff.... from Anheusser operates in, it probably isn't a belgium ale either.....
Cheers,
Ahmed
I think Busch is actually the better of their two main products.

This isn't going to be a 'live stream'. Even the text says 'live-on-demand stream'. on-demand means you can watch it whenever you want. This is a stub for them to put the finished stream on once it's over.
Who found this link? It's not anywhere on the http://www.apple.com/quicktime/guide/appleevents/ page. So most likely someone ran into this link by mistake or was fed it by an insider, but it's not going to go live probably for at least an hour after the event is over.
That's my guess anyway, I could be wrong, but it doesn't feel like this link is going to work for a while. In Past Apple Streamed These Events Live Every Time So It's Not Inconceiveable this will be streamed live - especially since there is a new Paris Apple Expo just opened live today.

I think any iPhone 5-type upgrade would be incremental, like the 2G to 3G. 3G to 3GS was actually a significant upgrade hardware wise, and then the 3GS to 4 was also a significant upgrade as well. I think the iPhone 5 would maybe get an an A5 but I'm not sure of what else. Apple (and the public) seems really happy with the 4's design and I don't think they'll want to deviate from that too soon.
I wouldn't be surprised if they moved the iPhone refreshes to the fall. That way, they have hype and lines going almost all year, and especially into the holidays.
I think it will be bigger leap than you think.
If it is just incremental, they would be on time for another upgrade for June.

Right. The Core 2 Duo's have been out how long...a month perhaps, and Apple is falling behind?
Well, C2Ds have been shipping for that long, and Apple is the only notebook manufacturer who has not even announced! (Lenovo's announcement Monday left Apple as the sole hold-out.)
So, yes, they are "falling behind." (And that's if they announce within the next couple of weeks - if they wait until MWSF, it's just embarassing!)

Another factor is that downloadable games don't have printed materials, shipping costs and other middleman costs associated with them. The average price of a downloadable game tends to be $10-20 cheaper than a physical version of the same product. Similarly Aperature costs $200 in brick and morter retail stores but only $80 from Apple's App Store.
Right.. someone that gets it.. It is not that I wont get it I will but will get the phyiscal copy because it is a better deal, but shouldn't have to be.
The only thing that I do not like about Steam (or ANY of those digital content stores) is that you cannot sell the game once you no longer want or need it and transfer it to the account of somebody else. You can only do this when you purchase an item as a gift. This actually deprives me of a legal right that I have as a customer in Germany - we CAN legally transfer even OEM licenses that were bundled with some hardware.

We had an idea like that years ago when we were messing with audio editing and mixing on a laptop. We thought it would be cool if you could swap the keyboard for some mixing controls. Next time remind me to patent random ideas!

A whole year Later ?
Whats the point?
Shouldn't we be seeing the 5 by now?
That's the point. Apple is using this to postpone their introduction of the iPhone 5. I will admit, it has taken them a considerably long time to introduce it in the iPhone 4:mad:. I was hoping they would just focus on getting a black and white 5.

There is a new method of producing carbon fiber called "chopped carbon fiber." It might make sense for Apple to use something like this as opposed to woven carbon fiber, which is very expensive to manufacture.

I just noticed that if you open the stream in your browser and slect the drop down menu, there's a pro option (which I don't have) to "Save as quicktime movie". Does that work for anyone with pro, or will it just save a link to the stream on your computer?
The latter in this case unfortunately.
QuickTime Pro usually gives you the option to download video content of the web, but these keynote streams are made in such a way that you can't save the entire movie. You download a part of it (cache), then you play that part, and after playing it, the cache gets deleted. And then the next part, and the next.... and so on.
To download the enitre movie stream, you need somekind of app that let's you save the cache.
I don't know why Apple doesn't podcast it, or make it downloadable..... but they are really doing their best to prevent it being downloaded.
IIRC not one Steve-note was made available by Apple. There are "alternative sources" to get them, but nothing legal....

It's interesting how large the magnitude of disconnect between the planned purchase estimates and the actual marketshare is for Macs (e.g.. 17-18% of people planning to buy computers state they will get a Mac, but only 5-7% actually do). In contrast the numbers later for HP seem relatively close to their actual marketshare numbers.
They don't offer an interpretation, but one tempting one is that people who are very strongly considering getting a Mac get dissuaded as they get immediately close to purchase, to a much greater extent than PC buyers.
