Yeah, I believe the 5770 will work with the '06 models, but you need at least SL 10.6.4 (I think) in order to have functioning MDPs.
You need 10.6.4 for the cards to work on any machine, but I believe with any version of OS X you can get basic display, even over MDP.

BTW, what happened to the formatting on the Category:Ports (http://guides.macrumors.com/Category:Ports) page? Why is it separating the S's like that, and making it a weird grid instead of a simple list of articles??
The category system arranges its tables in deep, dark, mysterious ways. It will look better when the article count grows a little.
Also, why when forwarding the Ports (http://guides.macrumors.com/Ports) page to the Category:Ports does it not show the entire category?
I put in the syntax tweak that should have made it work, but apparently this bug (http://bugzilla.wikipedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=710) is still unfixed. Can't get there from here :(

Take it to a qualified repair shop before you do any more damage.

Hey - I downloaded one client 6.24.1, installed it and tried to open it via the application icon in the applications folder but it said it wouldn't work on my machine. I don't really want to go the terminal route. BUT, I went to system preferences and looked in the Other section and there was a Folding icon so I entered a user name and the MR team number and clicked the button. So, is it working? How do I tell? the terminal route isn't that hard. it may look daunting, but i think it runs better and is less intrusive. i can walk you through it

I was originally going to and decided to camp out at Town Square Thursday. I'd probably go to the one in Boca Park or on West Lake Mead. They're nicely situated to avoid the heat.

In the Finder View Options, do you have it set to either "Snap to grid" or "Keep arranged by" name/type/...? If so, it will automatically place your icons.

...For a newbie
I ordered Dreamweaver from apple.com and it should arrive in a day or so.
I have Dreamweaver MX for Dummies but I wonder if there is another good book that you recommend.
Also, is the book that comes with the program any good?
Thanks !

I have a pretty strange issue. I have a home network with 3 windows computers, and 1 MacBook Pro (Feb11).
All the computers can ping each other in any combination/direction except the Mac can't ping the Win7 computer. (I have 2 XP, 1 Win7, and OSX10.6).
I turned the firewall on the Win7 machine off, and still no luck. Eventually I went ahead and tried to mount the Win7 share on the Mac, and that worked. Then, once the share was mounted, I could ping it just fine (and connect with other network stuff that I was trying to originally).
If the harddrive goes to sleep, the share unmounts, as normal, then when it wakes back up, the ability to ping etc, is gone again until I remount, then it's all back.
Basically: The Win7 machine can ping the Mac just fine, the workgroups are all set properly, and it can ping the IP of all my other machines, and other machines can ping the Win7. But the Mac can only ping the win7 if it has its share mounted.
Any ideas?

Basically no. The 27" iMac will only accept digital input signals, not analogue.
If he got a simple adapter it'd be possible. Though, I don't think they make just simple Composite-HDMI or whatever the iMac uses like they do VGA-DVI. If he got a converter box ($100-$300) it's possible.
OP, why would you want to run a Genesis on the iMac? Do that retro goodness some justice and buy a CRT . Seriously, good quality ones are 15 bucks on Craigslist. Computer monitors are even given out now.

I am getting into film editing on a small scale. I recently got a t2i and will be recording a lot of surf footage and down the road will be doing pictorial videos for a few clothing companies. So I was wondering would I really see a difference between the 13inch models compare to the 2 15" models? I plan on putting a SSD drive into which ever unit I decide on.
I am asking the community based on the fact that I don't want to spend 2,200 on the high end 15" model, when I would be getting similar results on the low end 13" model.
Thanks

In these situations, it never hurts to go back to the store and ask.
However, I wouldn't rely on the "fans are loud" issue to demand a return. If you are watching a lot of video, you could be taxing the computer and it needs to cool down, hence the fans.
My advice would be to go in, explain that you purchased it back in March, but that you're thinking an iMac and an iPad would be a better fit. You might get told that you're outside of the return window, but you might luck out and have someone who's willing to work with you, especially if it's your intent to walk out with other equipment.
If that doesn't work, you'll get a decent resale price on a two month old MBP. Cut your losses and get an iMac and iPad.

No specific recommendation since it was a while since I bought one, but a 2.5" IDE to 3.5" IDE adapter is fortunately very non-complicated so even the cheap ones on eBay should be OK.
The only thing the adapter has to do is to change the standard IDE connector and the normal power connector to smaller variants for the 2.5" drive. The signals are the same.
