Those 2 mentioned were the lower default resolutions and I believe the others were 1280 x 720, 1280 x 768, 1368 x 768. I like the 1280 x 720 but most recent games only get maybe 8 - 15 fps at that resolution.

An Air is the only laptop I’ll ever buy!
I still have the very 1st-gen (before SSD was economical so I have a plain HD) but it’s enough to run my business off of and do some pretty heavy tasks (Photoshop, Flash, 3D gaming at low detail). The latest models would be just awesome... but I’m waiting for Sandy Bridge before I upgrade.
If someone asked me what computer to get, and I wasn’t allowed to know anything about them, I’d default to recommending a base MacBook Air 11” with 4GB RAM. (Or maybe the 128 SSD, but few people outside of tech forums need more than 64 GB storage so frequently that it can’t be external or wireless. Everyone who can afford a Time Capsule should probably have one!)
Then I’d recommend that if they want a bigger screen, add get a cheap Dell 20-something-inch display and a mouse/keyboard, giving them a desktop experience. Until it’s time to leave the house, when that ultra-compact size is great.
I would generally not recommend the DVD drive. Most people have a DVD player already, and I for one have never needed to pay for a DVD drive in three years with my Air. I do occasionally use Air Disc, though. For free! So I suggest people wait and not get the DVD drive until/unless they need it. (Maybe for re-installing the OS after a catastrophe, if they have no access to another machine with a DVD.)

VLC is horrible.
Use AVplayer. Much more features and 10x more reliable on flawless video playback.

Also, to anyone who wants to set up this VPN on a Mac but doesn't have Leopard or above (which EasyVPN requires), you can set this up in Tiger (10.4) using iVPN. It's simple and mostly the same as the guide by the OP, but slightly different. Feel free to reach out to me if you are on Tiger and want help setting it up with iVPN.

You have to put identical processors in DP systems. I don't think a single core 2.5GHz and a dual core 2.5GHz will work. However, I think you can run it with only one processor. (DP x86 systems work this way)

When does the bullring carpark open? If not i might have to park in chinatown.
I think it opens at 7. It did for the iPad release anyway.

If you want to write a 2D game and you're familiar with Objective-C then I think you want to be using the cocos2d framework. I've found "Learn iPhone and iPad Cocos2D Game Development" to be a valuable resource.

Treo 650 has a low call volume. So? It's not a flaw that's specific to all mobile phones. My friend's phone is too loud!
And UI improvements. Well........Sony Ericsson is definitely king of mobile phone UI right now, Motorola being the absolute worst. I don't know what else Apple can do. I actually have an idea for how get 2 or 3 types of buttons on the front face of the phone without making it a slider phone, but that's really the only idea I'd like implemented that will change the UI. Otherwise, what you'll be getting is a UI from Apple that's similar to what you use now, maybe touch screen (gimmicky).
You know some of sony's phones are using Symbian OS, the same OS in most of Nokia's N and E series. I don't think touch screen is gimmicky at all it has some use but then again most of the phones with touch screen are some form of a smartphone, like the Treo, Sony 900 series, HTC phones and so on.
I had the Treo 650 sounds was fine nothing I would complain about. But then again there is a software called volumecare that took care of the low volume. And Motorola actually has a good interface but it is on their hard to get and pricey V3X.

Go look at Pages; Word's been the "standard" for years and Pages can write Word documents. I'm sure if Lasso, Numbers, Charts, etc. will also be able to save in Excel documents. I believe AppleWorks can, and if this is a step up, and since the world has moved a little more, there should be no problem with Excel and Apple's new application.
There are still two problems:
1) While Pages and Keynote may be exported to Word and Powerpoint, it is not flawless. When working with word documents and presentations small changes may not matter significantly, but when dealing with numbers, there is ZERO room for error.
2) Pages and Keynote (and it seems the "Lasso") are all targeted at the non-experienced computer user. Unfortunately, for the most part, that is the exact opposite audience who use spreadsheets.

DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE GET iPSP.
IMO it's a far far better app than PSPware, but the keys for iPSP have a horrible tendency to not work. The company have seemingly disappeared, and do not reply to support emails. Check the reviews on VersionTracker and MacUpdate for further instances of this.
I actually loved iPSP, the way it would resize images efficiently to save wasting space on the Memory Stick was excellent. But as the company is either dishonest or defunct, you must keep right away.
PSPWare is at best average, at worst pathetic, but if you buy a licence it will definitely work.

I'm coming here after work (work downtown until 5) so hopefully they'll still have some by the time I get here. My wife and I are trying to get each other one for our anniversary.

The design rocks, but the C2D is a non-starter. My nearly 4 year old faster CPU C2D machine chugs on my iTunes collection, flash, any hi-def. video.
I really have no use for it at this point. I really find it amazing that a 2.16 C2D is OK for they type f computing that I see around me...iTune, videos, huge DPI photos in iPhoto, etc. It literally took hours to import my iTunes library while iTunes was analyzing for volume...
That said, I will be the first to buy a Sandy Bridge MBA...basically my dream machine...
Didn't see your post or I simply would've said +1 lol.

Ok, the iTunes problems was not an iTunes problem. For whatever reason, my extra internal HD had a loose connection. I moved it around to another set of wires and it's perfectly ok. Problem solved.
As far as the fonts issue - I still have the problem but I went in (again) and reworked everything taking it down to bare bones. Then, instead of trying to manage fonts for all accounts (using FontBook) I now manage them by individual accounts. Meaning, I can simply drag and drop fonts to my user font folder just so I can 100% know what should be happening.
Agh...these problems have been nagging for a couple weeks now but it seems I've turned the corner.
The Mail issue does sound like it could be a font issue as well. At the height of this problem Mail and Safari would not even launch (duplicate fonts). Plus, when I was logging in I wasn't getting a complete login. Which also meant that when I went to logout there were other problems (like the OS logging out to the unix prompt or even simply shutting down on me).
Anyways, at least I can use Trade Gothic again and for now that's all that really matters. ;)
Good luck all...v

Hi all,I recently took a lend of a copy of Panther from the office to spruce up my old g3 imac. I no nothing really about macs in general have worked with PC's for 15 or so years. The problem being I turn of the imac hold down 'c' the imac reads the CD for a while them stops and continues to boot from the harddrive. I clicked on the cd and opened it and all I see is a file called mac osx10.3.sit I then opened this using stuffit and then i see another file named something similar to the original. I then opened this and get an error message the application that created this file can not be found. What should I do? I cant ask any one in the office about this problem as Panther was installed by an engineer who came out to update our 2 or so imacs.

VW and Audi both have their respective ads as well; I like the Passat ad.

VW's spots were both brilliant! The Beetle one was great and the Darth Vader Kid was funny, too. The Audi ones were a bit long, funny, but you really have to want to watch them. I know they're teasers, but I couldn't even finish the Kenny G one. I will say I chuckled a bit at the first Scared Straight one when the guy said he has enough money to bring the stuffed bear back to life. Great line!
