I have my home dir on a separate drive. It's really easy, there's no need to create filesystem links of any such thing. There is a field in NetInfo manager which is the path to your home dir. Just change the path and then copy your dir to the new location.
You won't be able to delete your current home dir until after you reboot.
i know that will work for another drive, but doesnt it read Partitions differently?

The Sketch-a-Search app is very good. smart intuitive UI, someone in Yahoo is finally thinking outside of the (search) box.
but one thing that really stuck out was that it was using maps provided by Google. Really yahoo?

Now that Apple has took off the 15 inch display off thier site, when can we expect upgrades to the display line? I don't think we will have to wait till Macworld, I think we can expect them very soon. My thinking is that with new displays, Apple could boost sales for Christmas, making the displays more attractive looking, and of course cutting prices and releasing a 19 inch. This is what I think:
17 inch - $699
19 inch - $1199
23 inch - $3199
I think those prices are fare. What do you guys think?

Today marks the day that I've had my MacBook Air for 14 days, and it also marks the last day that I have to return my MacBook Air to Apple.
So here's my story. I was playing on my MacBook Air yesterday in the morning and it started to creak when it was moved at certain positions and angles, and whenever I put my wrists on the palmrest area. I wouldn't have thought much of it, but I just paid $1300+ for this Mac and I expect it to be nearly perfect, and up until yesterday, it was. So anyways, my MacBook Air continued to creak all day yesterday and is still creaking today.
I finally had had enough of the creaking and called Apple Support. The person that helped me with my issue was VERY friendly, helpful, and seemed intent on getting my problem fixed. After giving him my information, he quickly looked up the issue and told me that a couple of the MacBook Air's have been reported to creak, but that it can be fixed by taking it to an Apple Store and having them fix it at no charge.
After telling me this, he quickly set up an appointment to talk to a Genius tomorrow at 4:00 PM. I was VERY surprised at how much the Apple Support rep seemed to care about my issue. I've owned a lot of laptops/PC's in the past and whenever I needed support, they always sucked. Apple Support was amazing and I couldn't have asked for a better experience.
This whole process took under 10 minutes, and for me the greatest thing about Apple's Support was that I COULD ACTUALLY UNDERSTAND THIS GUY! Once when I needed support from HP for my PC, I couldn't understand any of the reps at all and they didn't seem to understand what I was asking, so I ended up fixing the problem on my own, the Apple Support rep that I talked to, on the other hand, was friendly, clear in what he was saying, and intent on helping me fix my problem.
I love Apple. <3 :D
Hey SR71 :)
Good to hear! Apple do indeed have fantastic support, and I had a similar issue within a week of buying my MBP. They replaced it no questions asked. Unlike countless issues I had with Dell, and they refused to replace my faulty product! Enjoy the MBA :)

This is ridiculous. How these bugs have persisted ever since 4.1 is beyond me and not consistent with Apple's standards.
iPod:
Modifying any iTunes song (anything in the info pane. Album name, artist, etc) causes Album Artwork not to display on the Lock screen until the phone is restarted. Also, new songs added will have no artwork on the lock screen during playback until you restart your phone...yeah.
Maps:
You can paste in the search field in maps...once or twice, then you have to restart the app because it will no longer display the "Paste" button!
I seem to remember when the original iPhone came out something about being able to tap an address in Messages or Safari and an option "View in Maps" would appear. I have nothing like this. Does it simply not exist??? Why???
Wallpaper:
When you are setting your wallpaper, I like to use wallpapers that don't go behind the time or unlock slider, it stays perfectly framed in the center and not behind the semi-transparent blocks at the top and bottom. But no matter how well you adjust it in Wallpaper setting, when you're done, your image will be a millimeter from where you wanted it. Sometimes less, sometimes more, sometimes too high, sometimes too low. WTF! Fix this! It worked perfectly on my 3Gs with iPhone 3...
Keyboard:
There was minimal keyboard lag in iPhone 3 but in iOS 4... oh lawdy. I can tap out three whole words and the keyboard is still highlighting the first letter I tapped... NO, switching the phone to silent mode doesn't help. This is stupid, Apple can't make something as simple as a ******* keyboard work??? What???
Vibrating alerts:
This has always been an issue, as far as I can remember even the iPhone 3Gs. The vibration function is simply busted. Sometimes it buzzes twice as long, sometimes it's very very short, sometimes it buzzes twice, sometimes once, sometimes it does stupid "long, short" buzzes! It's STUPID! How hard is it to make this work? Cell phones have been doing it since...forever! It's not really that hard! It's been made even worse with the new text alerts. Sometimes texts have NO vibration, sometimes they have stupid patterns that make no sense what-so-ever.
Home Button:
The home button worked once in the iPhone's lifetime. Since the very day I got the iPhone 4, oh hell. Click once, it reacts to two clicks, click twice, it reacts to one click, click three times, ah what the hell, it's all a crap shoot. I just pray when I click it actually does something I can work with. I'm done with this friggin thing.
I am displeased.

Apple recently replaced my Rev A iMac G5 with a Rev C iMac G5, so I am selling the accessories I had purchased for that iMac.

-$59 new - $53 with EDU discount
I'll take $40
-Apple Wireless Mouse - used only a handful of times (I use a trackball mouse) - shows some normal wear and tear but has also worked flawlessly
-$59 new - $53 with EDU discount
I'll take $40
-1GB PC 3200 DDR RAM (used in a Rev A 1.8GHz iMac G5) - I paid $175 for this stick of RAM and still have the receipt and original box it was in - I have had no problems with this RAM
I'll take $75
I have a paypal account for quick payment. Post here or PM me with any questions. I'll try to put some pics here this evening when I have a chance. Make some offers if you think this is too much.

I was using Terminal but then was in a hurry and had to leave the computer. I logged out and in doing so, it asked me if I wanted to close the Terminal window, which I said yes. Now whenever I get in it won't give me the initial message...
I get absolutely no response whenever I set in a command...
Is there some way to restart Terminal? Or can it be uninstalled and then re-installed?

Yeah the value changes. Fortune is a Linux command line application that gives a fortune every time it's run. I want to post this output to twitter and as you may know twitter only takes 140 characters.
So when my script runs if the fortune is less than 140 it will post. If it's greater than 140 I want it to keep running the command till a fortune less than 140 is given then post it.
For the time being I am just echoing the fortune, eventually I will be using the twidge application to post to twitter, which I already have set up and working, I'll just ammed the script once I get the loop sorted.
So you need to actually run fortune inside the loop. The loop would run fortune until it gets an appropriate one. Then after the loop, you output it.

For giggles, I called the Summer Set store in Troy Michigan and asked if it was OK. The guy told that the CD's have a license in them. He said to try it, if works great. If it doesn't, come and buy another one.
There ya go. Try it, if it works, great, if it doesn't, buy another one.

How is there going to be a 4GS when there's no 4G?
Well AT&T is calling their HSPA+ network 4G.
I guess it's only natural for Apple to call the next iPhone: iPhone 4G

"Sir" I see your point. I just would like to get an iPad at some point and I see an opportunity. I feel that a MacBook air and an iPad are competing. Since I plan on getting a higher end MacBook pro in a few months I'd rather go with the iPad for now.
I understand that people are going to argue the point of getting an iPad or not, but I've decided to go with it. (not to be a dick or anything) and I'd just love some advice on how to best go about doing this transition and having everything setup as efficiently as possible.
