So Intel's graphics are good enough for the 13" MBP that can support an external 30" display, but not for the MBA? Most LV/ULV Sandy Bridge cpus have the same HD3000 graphics as regular Core i5/i7 cpus used in the MBP. Sure they are clocked slightly lower, but it is probably already the case for the 320M.
I don't see how Thunderbolt will hurt for external drives. If anything you'll get access to faster drives (RAID HDD, SSD (http://www.lacie.com/us/products/product.htm?id=10549)) it's better than what you can today with only USB2 ports.
I mean that the iteration of Thunderbolt will hurt for me, by getting a MBA now with out it.
The HD3000 is slightly less powerful than the 320m GPU. So with a higher resolution display on the MBA the HD3000 would perform worse than the 320m currently does? This is my thinking and why I think Apple didn't increase the resolution of the current MBA instead of suffering a major decrease in GPU performance. I'm thinking that the Intel graphics performance will degrade much quicker at higher resolutions than the Nvidia does.

I just got one of these (Graphite 500mhz DV SE model) for dirt cheap too (10.50!). I intend to stick it in the garage and use it as a music player!
To answer your question it is indeed fanless and should be more or less silent. The issue I have is that the original 30GB Maxtor hard drive sounds like a jet turbine with marbles in it - let's hope your drives are quieter ;)

I am curious. Has anyone else had success setting this up? How is it working out for you?
I was able to get it working. Thanks for your instructions. Now I need to wait for TW to improve their service so I can actually get more than 5 secs of video stream. I would be very interested to know if anyone who has TW cable has been able to get this to work reliably.

I sold my iPhone 3GS in October and got a blackberry, but now I want to go back to the iPhone.
I'm not sure if I should keep my blackberry until a major iPhone upgrade, buy an iPhone 4 now, wait until June to see if a new iPhone is coming out around then, or wait until September if that's when the iPhone is coming out and see what's new.

built in isight & ir receiver
If they had them, and consequently added probably $100 or more to the price of the display, would you actually commit to buying one... today?
& i'm sure folks want faster reaction time better graphics capabilities
Possibly, but that's a limitation on LCD tech in general which will get better with time, but Apple LCD's at present are probably among the best computer LCD displays available. I don't know what else you'd do until the tech itself improves... except to say this: Those who are really serious about color, clarity and contrast should stick to CRT's for the time being. Nothing beats a Trinitron in this arena.
& somewhere, someone wants it glossy
Probably... but the greater likelihood is that graphic designers who tend to buy the higher end Apple LCD's don't. Matte displays are far better for accurate color and contrast. Glossy displays falsely enrich the image, which is a problem if you're trying to maintain a color match from prepress to proof.

I'm sitting here in my office - in front of my crappy Windoze computer - and I just don't feel like working! I'm bored! I need to find some fun things online to read.Wouldn't it be funny if you accidentally posted this on your company's intranet server? Another tortured Tuesday. What do you do?

Apologies if this has already been answered as I've ot had chance to trawl the forums yet but is the new battery life a result of new software or hardware?
Are us current 5g owners going to see an improvement with the new software?

Reply 1: Who cares? How many Netflix downloads are free movies? BFD.
Reply 2: Nonsense. You can adjust the font, the size, the background color and the brightness. I'm surprised you didn't trot out the "backlit screen hurts your eyes" myth as well.
You just keep trying. Maybe one day, many years from now when information is streamed to our brain implants and displayed on our artificial corneas, Apple will fail to sell a single iPad and you will declare "I told you it was going to be a massive FAIL."
I do not feel any eye strain and I have read a good 5000 book pages or so in the Kindle app on the iPad. The only downside is the screen glare outside, the kindle is still better for that.
I have also ready a dozen novels or so on my iPhone, so maybe I have unusually strong eyes :)

It shouldn't make any difference. Are you seeing any problems or is this just precautionary? I have my iPad technically plugging in (charging via USB from my laptop) all the time and I never get any trouble. I don't track when it reaches 100%.
Just as a precaution. I know it shouldn't really matter this time (never do it), but the battery does have a lifespan after all.

Hi everyone,
At the moment I'm developing a website and am hosting it on Webs for free (I'm very tight on money, saving for first car, new Mac etc) but this gives me a very limited amount of storage space and bandwidth. While it will be fine for a while I think it will run out reasonable fast as more and more content will go on the website.
My Idea is to host the bigger files (All .zip files for people to download) some where else and simply have a link to them on the website as I would have anyway.
This will obviously solve the problem of limited storage space, but will it also help to use less bandwidth? Or would hosting them with Webs not have used much anyway?
