There should be a setting something like:
- Never ask for password for purchases of $X and under.
- Always ask for password for purchases of $Y and over.
The first one would be nice so it I could set it to free and easily update my apps.
The second would help prevent cases like the OP.

Why won't this rumor die?! Seriously. It makes MUCH more sense to make a set top box that is compatible with any tv, and thus have wider appeal and adoption than to make a TV that has to compete with every other TV manufacturer out there. This is not Apple's game. Their game it to look at a market that is not currently being exploited to its full extent, figure out what people may want, then come in and redefine that niche. Worked with the iPod, iPhone, and iPad. There were predecessor in each of these markets but Apple came in and completely dominated it because they redefined it and tied it into a (relatively) easy to use ecosystem. Ok, it a really easy to use ecosystem, just slow and bloated. :D

To give you an idea how mentally backwards this attitude is: In what is probably considered one of the most backward countries in the world, in Iran, the religious leaders are completely Ok with a transgender operation. now we know what the iPhone3,3 model was that kept popping up in iOS references.
i came over to AT&T with my iphone 4 from tmobile i bought off contract because i was tired of jailbreaking all the time with every update and having everything break like MMS and internet. the quality of service on ATT is awful, both in phone and with MMS/Text. I love it how on the ATT network it breaks up every text into pieces, and delivers the second half before the first.
if tmobile got an iphone, i would go back in a heartbeat. screw att, even with the merger.

That is a SERIOUS board. I'm from the old school of Schmidt Stixx and Powell & Peralta. I'm looking for a board with totem poles on either side of a temple. I'm unsure which of those companies made them Stixx or Peralta but its hasn't been in production since 87. if anybody knows and can find the name/picture it would be helpful (Yes these where the days when the young adult Tony Hawk ripped the scene just prior to showing that the 720 was possible and doable with STYLE).
My wish list:
1) Have my current job past February 2011 - was granted I'm here until May 2012. OT is looking up and a raise. I can NOW finally invest and debt is getting paid and lower :D .
2) I'd LOVE to have a 13" MBP with a Core i5 and equal or better than 310/310M Nvidia that is current. My Al_MB is pushing hard in Logic Pro 9.0.1.
3. and most important wish:
1 WEEK during this Xmas holiday's ... to have
a) EVERY poor child under 19 fed healthy and hearty!
b) Every homeless person to have above and a warm & safe shelter and shower, a swap for smelly clothes! I HATE having to not go into a store or shun them on the subway because they SMELL so bad. They ARE still human beings and nobody is above them. Sure most made STUPID decisions to end up that way, or life was harsh all at once and no recourse to be a bum. I STILL remember not too long ago I lived in a shelter for 1.5yrs had nothing more than 3 days of clothes no job and no money. I stole for used clothes only and ate when I could BUT I worked my ASS off to get the ********* job and go back to school. MANY of you that have wealth take things for granted and within just a few days can loose it all. BUMS have one thing going for them ... either they don't know HOW or just self respect society NOT to attempt robbing a bank. if successful they can clean up - if not then at least food and shelter is gauranteed, even some basic health needs are covered - but it puts a strain on our taxes.
c) FAMINE to be put to a ground STOP in ALL the world just for a week.
#3 is an important wish to my heart - I have no resources to do it myself, no energy to convince those with cash that its important and unfortunately hard to trust those doing it actually can have a life doing this for a few years and NOT get paid; yet enjoy travelling to so many countries. Also, just wanted to weigh in on the "big hands" thing - I'm a woman, born a woman, never any question about it, but my hands are as big as most men's, especially considering I'm only 5'4". So are you going to beat me up just in case I'm a man?

And just because someone's sexual/gender preferences are outside your definition of normal does NOT mean that they're a frigging pedophile. That is such a leap in logic it's making my head spin. It's also really offensive. It's just as offensive as if I assumed that because of your race (whatever it is), you're more likely to molest MY child. That's not fair, is it? Doesn't make sense, does it? So you shouldn't make that assumption about a transgender person, either.

Nobody would choose to live as a gender they didn't identify with if they didn't feel they needed to. Don't feel any real positive emotion out of it because of how long it took, and how the most damage of 9/11 came from our response in my opinion, but yay I guess? I don't believe he was very active in Al Qaeda anymore, and even if he was, he's an easy replacement.

So...if Charlie makes $3 million per episode and they make say 20 episodes per year, he should be taking home $60 million of that $100 million? Really? What does Jon Cryer get to take home, let alone the rest of the people who work on the show?

But it really bothers me when people post how wonderful an app is and how useful it is and how it completely replaces a much more expensive app. When in reality it is only a simple consumer level product.
Others read this forum and buy Pages thinking that they can eliminate the use of Word. Then they find out that it really isn't that compatible with Word files. If you email a windows user a .doc file exported from pages, 7 times out of 10 they have problems with it.
Most pro printshops, publishers, law firms etc. only except word .doc files. Almost all law firms require a revision history. Collaboration tools are useally also required. Word handles this expertly. Plus it has table of contents tools, book publishing tools, bibliography tools, direct faxing,multitudes of custom templates, VB programing hooks, etc. etc. None of this has an equivalent in Pages.
I'm glad you found a solution to your problem and I am glad that Pages satisfies your needs for word processing. Maybe someday it will move out of the "consumer" ranks and into the "Pro" ranks when more functionality is added. Apple seems to know the niche that they are addressing very well.

Any new CAD programs were frequently measured, first and foremost, by their ability to exchange documents with AutoCAD. Of course, there was never a perfect ability to make such exchanges, as AutoDesk (makers of AutoCAD) kept the definitions of the dwg file format secret, and usually changed it from one version to the next. So, it made import/export difficult for the competitors, much like what MS does with Office. Did the fact that the exchanges weren't perfect mean that companies who chose to use other CAD packages weren't really professionals? No.
Again, these are just tools.
Will Pages fit the bill for everyone? Of course not. Does MS Word fit the bill for everyone? No. That's why there are different products out there. This is going to be huge for Mac OS X. UI Guidelines were great but could stagnant the look. The OS needs to look rich in colour.

Why on earth would this happen? Why would they edit it to include the ix.Mac.MarketingName? I don't understand. Is there any logical explanation? I don't think it is a typo because I don't think Apple is stupid enough to edit it just in order to put a typo in. Weird.
