BTW, what happened to the formatting on the Category:Ports (http://guides.macrumors.com/Category:Ports) page? Why is it separating the S's like that, and making it a weird grid instead of a simple list of articles??
The category system arranges its tables in deep, dark, mysterious ways. It will look better when the article count grows a little.
Also, why when forwarding the Ports (http://guides.macrumors.com/Ports) page to the Category:Ports does it not show the entire category?
I put in the syntax tweak that should have made it work, but apparently this bug (http://bugzilla.wikipedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=710) is still unfixed. Can't get there from here :(

Hello all,
I'm a student filmmaker. I use FCP. I just bought the new 15 in. Macbook Pro to use for school and video editing. I love it BUT as I am a poor college student it was a huge chunk out of my wallet and I'm considering trading or returning for the 13 in.
My original plan was to use the 15 in for everything and start earning money but now I'm starting to think that it would be smart to get the 13in and then when more money is earned buy the imac 21.5 which would be a nice combination. I would only be using the 13 in for light editing and iMac for heavy stuff. I'm not sure if I need ALL that mobile power that the 15 has, I believe the 13 would be just fine for small editing tasks away from home.
I would like your opinion. Do you think it would be better to keep the laptop or trade and save some money now with the 13 in and get an imac later on when the new ones come out.
Since I already bought the 15 I'm not sure what to do.
Your opinion is appreciated!

Yes it generally will.

Before you delete the account as Morod gave instructions on, make sure you check in the Advanced tab under Accounts. What you are checking on is to see whether 1) Mail removes the emails from the server after downloading, and 2) at what point it does so. If it doesn't remove emails from the server or if it only does so after a day/week/month you can delete the account with no harm/foul. If you login to your webmail access and find that your messages are no longer accessible there, that's where things get complicated. I'm hoping for your sake that they are still on the website.

It's fixed! Both firewalls have to be off in order for it to work, now all I need to do is find out which port it is so I can use the firewall still.

Nothing definitive has been announced. It seems like it has been more of a toy for Apple than anything serious so I wouldn't depend on it long term. I've never liked it personally.

Thanks, for the suggestion. ;) Of course I happened to be typing the post on my original iPad, so it was one of the first things I did. Also had another cable and swapped it, (just incase).
There was nothing, no beeps, no signs of life whatsoever, then after a long time and the occasional check to see if it would turn on - the :apple: appeared! and I was back at 10% again...
I'll be making sure the battery is properly charged and keeping an eye on it, but its not like I'm new to the "i" world, this isn't the same behaviour I have from my iPhone or my original iPad?
Anyway panic over for now.:o

Hi guys,
I haven't been able to find any benchmarks comparing the 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7 from late 2010 to the new 2.7GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5 anyone know if it's a worthy upgrade, or mostly insignificant ?
Using Geekbench 64-bit new i5 2.7GHz scores about 8600 while the 2009 i7 2.8GHz scores around a 9700.
Both are 512MB VRAM, however the i5 has a newer card.
I was wondering the same.
I know the RAM is much faster but wanted to know about he processors.
The 1066MHz RAM vs 1333MHz RAM probably won't make a noticeable difference to the average user.
In our opinion, if you can snag an i7 from apples refurbished store (we saw them for less than $1400 yesterday), that would be quite a steal.
Cheers

What would Mr. Anderson do if his son lost the remote to that stereo?

You should make an iPhone version? More people have iPhones/iPod touches than iPads. Or be nice and make it universal :D

Ketchup is really corrosive, I found that you can use it to polish copper. If you want to try to clean it do it soon.

I would recommend the Treo, it also serves as a mobile phone. Very nice, has bluetooth, camera that makes movies, HD screen, good stuff...
But of course it is also a phone so it might not be exactly what she is looking for.

you need the chip to put in the shoes and a little dongle to put on your nano. to my knowledge, they have never built that into the ipod nano.
as far as the features you're talking about, I've been running with Nike + since they introduced it on the first gen nano, and everything you're asking for, it was able to do. so go ahead and buy a cheap old nano and enjoy your runs! :)

It's not uncommon for LCD monitors to have a dead pixel... having one dead pixel does not mean that there will be others, though. That one pixel is defective (either it doesn't work, or it's stuck ON). Since each pixel on the screen uses three color elements, the problem may be with just one of the three elements... or it could be all three.
If this problem is occurring on a new out of the box monitor, and if it bothers you enough to want to try to do something about it, you can contact your vendor and see if they'll replace the monitor. However, they may want you to pay the return shipping, and there's no guarantee that the new monitor won't also have a dead pixel or two. (CDW let me exchange a Sony LCD with a blown pixel several years ago. They were very nice about it, and I still have the replacement monitor they sent me. FWIW, my other Sony, a 23" LCD, has no problems at all.)
A lot of vendors require a large (10 or more) number of pixels to be defective before they will regard the monitor as defective, so you may not have any options other than to try to ignore it.

well... i have to imagine that the old orchard lines were similiar to the northbrook iphone lines which were VERY long. and yup i live in northbrook.. why not northbrook court apple store you ask? friend is pissed at em for not servicing his ex-bricked iphone  ... so we'll be heading just a few miles south to skokie. and at 5-6ish, theres still people shopping, not just people eating at the food court (plus its a friday).
