Thanks for sharing your set up. So do you have to each one separately to see what is due, what you need? Or do they somehow overlap each other?
michelleYou've got to set up each independently.
I use Todo for projects, and I use Due for small stuff that I'd likely forget to do on time (clothes need to be dry by tomorrow, so as soon as I get home I should start the laundry) and things I might forget doing altogether (like taking my meds). What's great about Due is it just keeps beeping at you every minute till you either do what you need to do and check it off or postpone it ten minutes, one hour, or one day in case you can't do it at that time.

Hi everyone,
I have an April 2010 13' Macbook Pro with a LG Flatron W2453V as the external monitor (minidisplay port to HDMI style). The problem is, every time I wake the MBP from sleep mode, all of my windows have been resized and moved around. It's as if the MBP fails to recognize the external monitor quickly enough and defaults everything to the MBP's screen. Is there anyway to have the MBP recognize the external monitor first and keep the window positions the way they were?
Thanks :)

If any only if you feel like trying a grand experiment (nothing harmful, just complicated till you do it once), try THIS (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=805573&highlight=mac+automator). They're automator (think script) functions that control ripping and converting of DVDs to avoid user interaction.
I've been using them to bulk-convert my DVD library. Once the initial setup is done (~20 minutes to install all the software), you just insert a DVD. The script will detect this, and ask whether it's a TV show or a Movie. You'll then be asked the title (95% of the time, this will be prefilled from the DVD volume name, but not always), and then it will rip the disk to your hard drive.
Then later, and you can have ripped anywhere from 1-100 disks to your drive, you start another automator function that uses the command-line version of Handbrake (no user input necessary for this, and it's faster than the GUI) to convert the ripped disks to a format that iTunes/iOS likes. (h264 MKVs). Also supports BlueRay burning if you want to make this a substantial investment, but I'd start small ;)
The end result to this are MKV video files that are a very reasonable size (~1.2GB if SD, ~1.7 if HD) that include subtitles, iTunes tags, as well as poster art for the Cover Flow file browser.
I'd be happy to help you implement this (I can Teamviewer into your machine to help you setup). No other reason than it's an excellent solution that will help you to convert your life away from physical media. (No charge lol). After the initial setup is done for the scripts (majority of it is just downloading the needed 'helper' applications), it's simple and quick. <<That offer is open to anyone, btw.

I actually think the composition is the weakest part of the photo. It bugs me more than the lack of sharpness and the graininess. You call it "Girl under the bridge", but it's all girl and no bridge. Needs more sense of scale, IMHO.
What ISO did you shoot this at? With an aperture of 1.4 and the reflected light I think you could've afforded to do ISO400 even, with steady enough hands. Looks like you shot it at 1600+ though.

Have you tried any of these steps?
Mac doesn't boot (http://guides.macrumors.com/Mac_doesn?_boot)
Resolve startup issues and perform disk maintenance with Disk Utility and fsck (http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1417)
Troubleshooting: My computer won't turn on (http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1367)
Btw, the Mac mini, obviously being an older G4 model, being plugged into a router does not have anything to do with its bootability.

My wife downloaded a bunch of pictures for a project and now tells me she needs to include the url's that they came from in her sources section...
I know way back when in system 9 when you got info on a picture the web address was right in that info,
not the case anymore it seems, anybody know of a method or an app (free would be nice), to get the url data for an image?
Thanks in advance!

I wish you well with your eMac. How soon will you purchase? Hope that you will be getting extra RAM and AppleCare.
Didn't realize that you were 13. You are quite accomplished for your age.

It only says "the build" so from your description it seems likethe face book app. Try deleting the app then re download it. I doubt the pop up is a problem, unless the phone still isn't working. I would delete the app then re download it then if u get it again u can email them, u will get there e-mail at there iTunes app page.

My dad still regularly uses a network of 3 Quadras 900s and a couple of eMacs (for printing). He's burnt through 4 or 5 Blueberries and a couple of eMacs, but those Quadras have been running since new. All backed up daily on 100 meg SCSI zip disks and a couple of SCSI 40 meg drives (the kind that had the form factor of the Mac Classic, so you could stack em).
Don't think those guys have been shut off in almost 20 years.
He really needs to upgrade as his business would be SOL if even something simple as a PSU failed. The "upgrade" path I've been pushing lately is to just buy a bargain bin PC, stick Windows XP on it and run on his Quadras in Basilisk 2 windows. He probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference, and he could back up everything in the matter of minutes on a flash drive instead of hours to zip disks.

The ORF (Olympus RAW) file has an identifier string for the camera, if this string doesn't match a camera on Apple's list of supported cameras, the file won't open. However if you go in and edit the string from "E-PL1" to "E-P2 ", Aperture will open it no problem. I even wrote a python/automator program to perform this on E-PL1 RAW files so they can be opened in Aperture.

Not recognizing the same format just because of a different model name? That's kinda stupid. Now Apple will have to keep putting out updates just to change a 1 to a 2 or something.

Sure, few here would fall for this but there are millions of not-so-tech-savy people who fall for this sort of thing

All,
My dev box is macbook pro with latest OSX, dual boot to Win7 Ult 64.
I setup apache, perl,SSL, php,sql in Win with no problems and website is on the NTFS partition.
on OSX side, apache runs and I have the DocumentRoot to pointed to
/Volumes/Mac_Daddy/docs/web_curr/public_html
NTFS-3G runs fine, I can read/write to win partition but apache is still looking for the doc in Site folder??? WTF???
also I have named the
ServerName localhost
so in any browser if I type in http://localhost the site on the NTFS should be pointed to and loaded but it doesn't work.
and apache thinks the address is 192.xxxx/~user WTF is going on???
do i need to set a hard link in the user's site?? force 127.0.0.1 in the hosts file??
any help kindly appreciated.

I could do $500 shipped, but I'm sure you're looking for (and will get) a much better offer than that.

I dunno, but it might bring nationalism to Shepard, since he's a human.
Wouldn't that be speciesism? Humans are a species, not a nation. ;)

Do you need to be jailbroken to install this?
Also, can someone let me know how to install this through iTunes?
edit: btw, thank you for posting this! I have been looking for this app since I got my ipad 2.
You need to be jailbroken to install this. The easiest way would be to install in through iTunes by dragging the .ipa (second download link) into your Apps section and then syncing through iTunes, but you'll need AppSync to do this which requires JB.

I just came home from a store with this LG monitor for 249USD and I'm very happy with it plugged into my laptop. It's picture quality is frankly very similar to our 2007 iMac 24" (very nearly identical to me, although my wife - the designer - prefers the iMac).
We couldn't go with the 27" apple monitor as it's incompatible with the older MacBooks (like mine) with the mini-DVI.
But anyway - I'm very happy with it!

I'm trying to use the bloomberg anywhere app on ipad, as I'm a bloomberg professional user. When opening the app, i receive a security alert stating that the app detected that the ipad was jailbroken, and refuses to run. Is there any way to prevent apps from detecting the jailbreak? thanks
Wait.. soon enough there will be a daemon that will sandbox apps into their own memory space so that you can use them without that annoying detection.
