I plan on running Windows via VMWare or Parallels on my MBP and I heard that Windows 7 requires more CPU to virtualize, I am just wondering if it's true, and if so, is it significant?
I will be running the virtualization probably constantly so I want to avoid anything that might slow down OSX. I hear 7 is the best choice for Boot Camp though, so I'm torn.
Any insight would be appreciated :)
Use XP SP3, if possible, because it runs fine with just 512 MB RAM! W7 requires at least 1 GB RAM, and runs fine with 2 GB RAM. The CPU-usage is low, in both cases: 5-15 percent on a 2.8 GHz Core2Duo, if you work just within the Windows Explorer, and < 5 percent if you do nothing within the Windows VM. VMware has optimized the VMware Tools (a collection of "invisible" drivers within the VM) for Windows, so Windows machines require only small amounts of CPU power.

No, you cannot always trust Mac OS X's pronunciations. They are often fairly inaccurate. Then again, the technology hasn't changed terribly much since it was introduced in the Mac OS.

Description:: NBC Universal chief Jeff Zucker says hell step down after cable provider Comcast takes control of the company later this year. The news came as Jonathan Klein, president of CNN, was fired and replaced by Ken Jautz, the head of the networks sister channel HLN. This is, of course, the same NBC that repeatedly refuses to place content on iTunes. While Im sure this isnt the onlyor even the main issueit is certainly indicative of bad decision making.

You can't put Graphics as a subcategory of Apple Software. It should be a top-level category like Networking. There should be subcategories:

Hello. I have a battery from an iBook G3 that has not been used in over a year. It has been sitting in my closet because my iBook died due to the dreaded graphics card problem. My buddy has an iBook G3 and I was wondering if the battery would hold charge after sitting for a year. The last time I used it, it could hold about 2 1/2 hours.

I bought Draytek 2830n router which offers both 2.4Ghz and 5.8Ghz. When running on 2.4Ghz AirRadar and iStumbler show 65% signal, but when I change to 5.8Ghz signal immediately drops almost by half to 35%.
So question, is Airport N that comes with MP 5.8Ghz compatible? Router is less than half meter in clear range with Mac Pro, so I would rather expect signal close to 100% on both frequencies.
I checked on my wife's Mac Mini and it's the same poor signal.

That's kind of a tough question to answer since you haven't stated what you want to be doing with your ipad. Offhand your options are to:
1. Manage your video and music library a bit better and trim them down to size a bit. iPads have good battery life, but you won't listen or watch EVERY song and/or video between charges.
2. If size and your available funds are more important than the modest speed increase, return your ipad if it's within the 2 week window and get a 64 gig v1, either online from the applestore, or possibly craigslist.
3. If you need more storage and speed, return your pad if possible, and wait it out until you've got the funds and the ipad version you want is readily available. Once the 2's ship for a couple more weeks, supply and demand will even out a bit and slowly bring an end to the ipad 2 feeding frenzy that's currently happening.

One question I still have though is, will a time machine backup from this current hard drive, once 'restored' onto the newly installed hard drive, be exactly the same? Is it that easy?
Yes and yes. I've restored from Time Machine backup several times. All settings, apps and data will migrate over. Heck, even the Finder windows I had open were restored.

Correct. Just speculation but it appears obvious.
AirPlay and AirPrint are iOS features. AirDrop follows the same nomenclature, it's a pretty good guess that iOS 5 will use AirDrop to drop files into Mac's and other iOS devices.
hrrmmm... COOL! :D

I may go tomorrow for leopard, if I can get enough money together. But, I think I'll drop by on Saturday from like, 10:00-3:00, because I have to record a podcast at 4:00. But It would be sweet if I won a prize.

I accidentally deleted a whole bunch of files while phone was running and still managed to get it to be recognized by iTunes after 1/2 hour of fooling with home and power button + USB plug. Don't give up.

whenever i repair permissions (when updating osX .etc) the same permission always gets repaired. there may be others sometimes but this one is always there.
is this unusual?
i'll add the specific file permission once i do a repair.

There are workarounds but the easiest for me is to use the 3rd party software. imtoo or xilisoft.

How do I do that??
Use 7-zip to extract the files from the MSI (BootCamp.msi for 32 bit and BootCamp64.msi for 64 bit). Then it's very similar to the video.
