I'm really puzzled what you people see good at this. This is pure *****.
Apple took the best small flash-based player in the world and made it the worst. With direct USB plug, you had amazing portability, still had MP3 player and good take it wheever you want. I regularly used to transfer small files from/to work, exchange files with friends etc.
With this, I would need to carry that stupid dock as well.
So it still has no screen at all, now has no USB as well, but it has the hinge. Wow.
The worst piece of "design" ever offered by Apple. Probably designed by a person that never actually used Shuffle in real life.

I have no idea what you are trying to achieve since no matter how much you try to justify it or post false specs and prices, it won't make the SP Mac Pro any better value. It costs a lot more than Dell's equivalent. Period.
Better value is the sum of Hardware + Operating System + Software = Performance
Paper spec used to interest me at one time too, then I grew up. ;)

So what happens when the might of Apple comes crashing down on you - public execution at dawn?!
They should be punished, not executed, but this is China.
They leaked the designs of a consumer product. Big who cares. It's not like they leaked nuclear submarine schematics. Personally I just think they should be dismissed. Anything more is heavy-handed. Can't believe how many people are advocating the death penalty here - it's an iPad - in the grand scheme of things you probably couldn't leak a design more trivial, or of less importance. Business shouldn't stand in the way of basic human rights.
They should be fired as a minimum punishment.
A significant amount of the news on this site (arguably, the most interesting news) is a result of the leaking of trade secrets.
So what's our view? "Give us all the interesting info, then arrest the people who leaked it to us!" ? Doesn't that seem a tiny bit... hypocritical?
This site is hypocritical in many ways. Rumors come from leaks.

However, it would be nice to hear more about how this data tracking benefits us. What apps and features use it? What % performance increase does it give? What benefit does it give Apple and it's third party partners? I want to see the pros as we seem to have covered the cons with much vigor recently.
The most visible one that Apple gave was that it takes minutes for a GPS location if you don't have an assist. You can sort of test this by going out and getting a dumb GPS and seeing how long it takes to find you. In my experience it can take hours (moved between hemispheres so the GPS took a while to figure out where it moved to). With wifi and cell tower data it can speed up location finding because it can give the phone a pretty good estimate as to where you are as a starting point. Keeping a local cache of nearby locations allows the phone to not have to query constantly and increase the speed even more assuming you don't have a fast network connection. This also increases your battery life as the phone isn't working as hard or as long.
Exact percentages? Beats me. The location finding ability of the device would be greatly decreased without this sort of cache, though.
Here is a wired article if you want a longer explanation. (http://www.wired.com/gadgetlab/2011/04/apple-iphone-tracking/)

didnt like the advice from my guy huh?
just playing around... hope it heals well, and just try to keep it clean, but don't obsess of the cleanliness, otherwise it will take too long to heal. man its going to be a pain to keep my industrial from getting infected LOL, those are the worst. btw, any blood or puss or green oozing crap? dont worry about any of that, its normal and healthy. :)
Salt water feels good, when you put the shot glass to the face for 15 min, it creates a vacuum, helping to draw any bad stuff out. My piercing seems to like it. it helps with irritation and itching too?
Ill be trying the 3M product that was recommended on the site too, thanks for the link.

When android phones are literally being given away, what is the surprise with the 'surge'? One system is popular because people want it, but the other will eventually surpass it because its an open system on many different phone platforms that are often included for "free".
1. So Google being smart about Android distribution is wrong?
2. You can get an iPhone 3Gs for free in many place, as well as $49.
Showing how Android is surging ahead is meant to show which OS is winning, but often (as is the case with this report, I believe) they are only looking at phone sales. Because iOS runs on iPads and iPods, Apple's share is higher. I wish we could get more concrete evidence on this.
P-Worm
True, but the biggest problem is that (from what I recall working at Apple and many posts on the forums) Apple counts shipping units as units sold, as well as units solely sold for replacement.
e.g. A user getting his/her iPhone replaced will be given a free iPhone, but Apple counts that as a "sold" unit in their inventory.
What these numbers do show me though is that not too many people really care about talking and surfing the web at the same time. Making one of AT&T's biggest advantages moot.

My office doesn't allow personal equipment in the building for the same reasons.
Same here.... In fact, they can confiscate it and in some cases keep it!

Piercings and tattoos have been related to childhood trauma (mental).
I know that is not all true, some people just like to do it. Do you think that is true?
Don't think those cosmetic lasers will get those tattoos off. You'll have to have it done many times and it will leave scarring. A lot of people think that you can just laser them off, but it is really only to a point.

If Apple entered this market it would be on terms the movie studios like more than Netflix. And that would mean more expensive streaming.
I already see what the movie studios have done to netflix as a whole. They are pulling more and more content from their service. Streaming is pretty slim pickings compared to what it was.
The movie studios want to turn netflix into the realm of misfit movies nobody would watch anyway:

Shame. Love me some netflix (both disc and streaming)

Well I fixed the video problem... I have been using a KVM to route all video to one monitor that way I don't have to keep unplugging the monitor from each machine as I check it, so I decided to see what would happen if I hooked the monitor directly to the 980x and it works perfectly that way.
Then I tried to load the folding apps and that didn't go so well so I have some more work to do to figure that out.
well glad you got it figured out.
as for the folding apps, let me know what you tried, so i can help you get it working!

I'd add that the Desktop Celerons are junk (especially when you can get the budget-priced Pentium D for something like $130).
But the Mobile ones are actually a fairly good chip at a fairly good price. So long as the rest of the configuration is acceptable.
And when the budget priced Pentium D can be turned, with fairly little investment into an Athalon Smiting, Fire-Breathing beast. Give it a bit, if the Apple MBs have to conform to intel standards, then they're going to have standard fan mounts on them. With standard fan mounts, that means that if Apple doesn't include Phase-Change cooling systems from the factory, that aftermarket units will work. And that means, that when the MacPros come out, someone will be figuring out how to OC them to death.

Yea I was suggesting Linux or Unix for the supermicro build,
3tb are a bad idea for a pruduction environment cos there less reliable slower have far longer rebuild time for raid are more expensive the list goes on
I disagree, if you followed that logic then why stop at 1 TB or 2 TB, why not build on 72 GB SCSI. "Production Environment" is a little bit of a arbitrary distinction, this is a small business with relatively low parallel usage on a tight budget, 3 TB drives would be perfectly suitable. Real high performance "production environments" would be using 15k FCAL, SCSI or SAS in enterprise chassis, but we obviously don't have the budget for that.
RAID rebuild time is going to be more affected by RAID-6 instead of RAID-5, by software RAID instead of hardware RAID than by 3 TB vs 2/1 TB. The double parity overhead of RAID-6 makes it very slow, but for a budget 30 TB filesystem I can't think of a better tradeoff.
Advantages of 3 TB drives - chassis needs fewer bays, future expandability with the same bays is better, administration is easier (fewer drives, fewer potential points of failure), power draw is significantly less - if you've shopped for colo's lately you'll find that power is pretty expensive these days, moreso than rackspace or arguably bandwidth.
RAID-5 would be ridiculous especially if you were to go with 31 1TB drives, that would be so risky it's ludicrous. Two drives go out and you just lost all your data. Thats 3% of your drives can fail and you're SOL.
RAID-6 with 12x 3TB drives you can lose 2 drives before you lose data, or 17% of your drives. Much safer. Thats 2 out of 12 instead of 1 out of 16 or 31. I think the advantages of 3TB are clear.

All beer sucks. That beer has been dressing itself up like wine for the last few decades or so is hysterical. You can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig. IMO, there's no difference between Budweiser and Chimay, except that Chimay manages to be even more disgusting. Don't even get me started on crap like Guinness. And before anyone says anything, I used to work in good restaurants for 20 years, I've had just about every beer you can think of- all of them are nasty. Beer is the only beverage that tastes even worse the more you pay. Hey- I tried it. :p:p:p:p
Beer is easily the worst alcoholic beverage on the face of the planet, right next to grappa.
