Tired of Apple's locked ecosystem
Switching to Android.
I travel to China half of the year, I NEED and unlocked phone so that i can pop in my Chinese SIM card when i'm there.
iPhone is just not for me.
FU Apple.... so much for Freedom in the US.
My iPhone is unlocked. In Canada you have this option.

This is in line with the iPhone life cycle.
2007 - iPhone (the Apple Beta)
2008 - iPhone 3G - Complete Redesign (or, IMHO, the "real" launch)
2009 - iPhone 3GS - Modest update
2010 - iPhone 4 - Complete redesign
2011 - iPhone 4.5 - Modest update
2012 - iPhone 5 - Complete redesign. (or at least, significant overhaul.)
iPad, iPod Touch & iPod Nano follow this curve. I feel like we can expect a revolutionary new device every 2 years, and a modest upgrade in between.

Is there still a chance that we might see a new Cinema Display before the 18th?
Anyone got any thoughts/predictions on when the new ACDs will come?

This is on page 2 because it isn't really news. It was just a foregone conclusion. But why MS prolonged the pain and embarrassment is beyond me.
I wonder in how many new and wonderful ways they'll piss away R&D money in the near future.
Microsoft could have so easily saved face had they just sold the Zune brand, manufacturing rights, etc. to some second-tier company, even if just for a token amount of a dollar. They could have said that they sold it to concentrate on their "core business" or some such nonsense and then, when it went belly up, Microsoft would not be holding the reins.

My roommate is taking a geography class in college right now. (Just an FYI, he is an older student in his 30's).
His teacher works for google on their maps. He has slipped in class several times saying Apple is working on putting GPS into the iPod. (He, the teacher, knows this because it is what he does full time for Google).
Anyway, this looks like the GPS in iPhoto is not related to the iPod, but eh you never know, iPhoto does work with the iPod in a way now as it is...

PCMag publishes (http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1895,2028393,00.asp) a ThinkSecret report about an upcoming spreadsheet application from Apple.
According to their sources, Apple is working on a spreadsheet component to iWork '07 to accompany Keynote 4 and Pages 3 updates. Codenamed "Lasso", the new spreadsheet is not expected to be as feature-packed as Excel, however, it is said to be a step up from the Appleworks spreadsheet module that was last updated in 2000:

Apple sold nearly 5 million iPads last quarter... now this sounds good to me, why are the media reporting this as "disappointing." Am I missing something here? Surely this should be at least "pretty good."

Not sure on US age ratings but Demon's Souls, Oblivion, Fallout 3 are all pretty good.

Agreed, a little more detail would help.
I can only assume that a setup is already in place which would preserve the internet speed and local transfers. That setup is mostly wired from what I read and you possibly want to make use of Wifi. I'm also guessing that those 60 connections might be devices or services?

Also no. iBook HDDs are IDE, and MacBooks (back to 1,1) use SATA, unless there's room for an adaptor or something.

I managed to get it working on my new 27" iMac by editing a system file to fool Steam into believing that you are running 10.6.7 - I believe the 10.6.7 requirement is because of new ATI graphics drivers that were bundled with that release and therefore this is quite safe (as the 10.6.6 build on the new iMacs obviously has the drivers for the machine).
I've posted the full details at http://bendodson.com/weblog/2011/05/04/portal-2-on-the-new-imac-10-6-6/ but basically you need to change the SystemVersion.plist file in your /System/Library/CoreServices/ directory so that the two references to 10.6.6 are changed to 10.6.7 - Steam will still complain but when you say "continue anyway" it'll actually run.
Enjoy!

I am not seeing it, I'd check to see if your browser's text settings are set to bold or italicize text somehow.

It really is hard to tell but it was last year, it's a bit too late to worry about whether or not you were shafted.
