It is amazing just how many times this same stupid comment has been made in this thread. Why do people have to regurgitate the same thing over and over?
Why is is sad a criminal dies while firing at a guard. Why is it sad a person who knows the consequences of carrying a weapon while attempting to rob a store? You play with fire and get burned. Nothing sad about it.

I'm really hoping for merom in mbp's and mb's. The wait has been killing me.
Same here. I really want a new C2D MBP, but since all of this info about the iMac, movie store, nano, etc. has been taking the spotlight, the C2D laptop information has come to a near stop.
Will we now be forced to wait longer than September. I still doubt it, but the quiet on this front the past week has been alarming to me.

I wouldnt worry about kernal panics or incompatibility issues with thunderbolt. Its like any other peripherals, its been heavily tested by apple and as long as other devices meets the requirements for thunderbolt, there will be no issues.

How does streaming music to my iPhone help me, when O2 cap my Internet usage, and then charge when you use more.
This is one of the many scenarios that make me wonder why "cloud based" services are so pursued. Lack of signal, in any way, means your device is useless.
Coupled with the probability that within a decade there will be cheap memory to hold everything the vast majority of users wants/possesses, this cloud-based stuff seems more like a control issue than a service provided.

So what? They're already getting sued by Apple, so what's another lawsuit? Point is, contract breach or not, Samsung could cripple Apple's whole ecosystem within days by halting all processor shipments. Apple makes the vast majority on iDevices and this would kill Apple's whole economic model. And this doesn't even account for Samsungs components that go into their Macs. As a result, Apple would have no hardware to sell. They would dip into their treasure chest. It could be devastating to Apple.
But then they'd have been hammered with 2 law-suits, and then lost their 2nd biggest customer. Thats financial suicide, Apple would find someone else for parts.

I really don't think it is necessary to call me or any member of my family "pathetic." There's nothing wrong with manipulating the system to your advantage, if you do it for a valid purpose (such as teaching a crappy driver a lesson).

You're not getting it. You are looking at a sunny-sky situation where nothing bad ever happens. Let's look at it from my perspective, a real-world perspective: my Macbook, which was used to sync my iPhone and my wife's iPhone, was stolen last fall. So who has all of this supposedly "safe" data now? Whoever has that Macbook. Probably nothing will ever happen, but now I have that little thing in the back of my mind thinking, "Hmm, if that guy happens to read about this and happens to still have it, he could theoretically track our normal daily movements." In other words, he'd know our daily routine - you know, most people have a routine and stick to it and don't think a second thing about it. Conceivably, he could come back and strike again because he has a good feel of when we're not there. I'd say the likelihood of this happening is extremely low. But it could happen because of this. (And we know the Macbook was used for a long, long time because of Zumocast - had it on our iPhones and her computer and saw him logged in all the time, starting a couple days after he stole it. Was actually able to recover some family videos that way, actually.)

Put a Conroe processor in a midrange headless system, and you'll have what the cube was supposed to be. The problem is that Apple just finished rationalizing a minimized line. To add something else into their lineup makes for all kinds of headaches.
Low-end (headless) - mac mini
Mid-range (all-in-one) - iMac
High-end (headless) - mac pro
Server room (headless) - xserve
In order to rationalize another product line in the mid-range (pro-sumer?) market, I think they'll need to focus it on some other feature that people need. Dropping the cube back out there just cannibalizes sales of existing product, if you are not careful with it.
Apple does not seem to believe that there is some large contingent of people who want a mid-range system that would prefer it not to have a monitor. I, however, think they are wrong, and they are missing a large segment of people who are willing to pay top dollar for a high-end well-designed machine. That market is the one for the high-end gamer.
Apple absolutely could produce a great machine aimed at high-end gamers. Produce a super-cool design aimed at that segment. Make it BTO with multiple upgradable graphics cards, fast bus speeds, fast ram, RAID 0, etc. They could leave off FW800, Bluetooth (most wireless gamer mice don't use it), and some of the other connectivity options that high-end gamers could care less about (modems, etc). Put the Conroe processors in there and crank them up as high as you can. The high end system could be liquid cooled, we already know apple can do that when needed. Most games are still not threaded all that well - but an MT OpenGL also couldn't hurt...
They could also Pre-install boot-camp as a BTO option. We all know any serious gamer is going to want windows installed - so just prep them for it. It wouldn't surprise me to see many more people buying macs to run windows on in the near future anyway.

Apple is a corporation. Corporations are required BY LAW to maximize profitability for their shareholders (fiduciary duty.) This is THE ONLY thing they "care" about.
Now, does providing products that customers like help them maximize profits? Of course. But don't ever confuse their efforts to please customers as being altruistic or showing that they "care" about customers. They only care about profit. If keeping customers happy increases profits, they do it. If giving away free bumpers for iPhone4s is good PR and creates customer goodwill, which increases future profits, then they do it. If selling private data to advertisers or government agencies creates more revenue than it costs (in lost customers,) then they do it.
It is all calculated on the bottom line and they are REQUIRED to take the action that maximizes profits, like ALL corporations.

Booths are available on first come first serve basis usually with returning vendors getting the right of first refusal for booths they have held previously. The ends and large booths near foot traffic are more expensive and they command a higher price. Some shows, fewer today than before, allow for "cigarette girls" or "strollers" but the vendor pays for this as they would for any other perks�and they are not cheap. They are generally given a specific time period in which they may walk the floor (if in costume they need a chaperone). They are not allowed to transact business but hand out "freebies". According to the story Greenpeace only signed up for a booth. All contracts I have seen say you'll get thrown out if you don't obey the rules.

So, if I associate an image with music or a movie on my Mac, Apple assumes it's OK for them to display it on my Apple TV? What about my copyrighted photos in iPhoto? I didn't give Apple the right to copy them to my iPhone.

Shooting to maim is a myth.
Anybody who's undergone firearms training for self defense (or law enforcement) is trained to remove the threat. Shooting to "maim" doesn't remove the threat. You try to shoot a guy in the leg and it presents two problems:
1. The leg is a narrow target, easy to miss
2. The guy can still shoot back with his now hurting leg
Handgun users (either for private use or professional use) are taught to shoot center mass. The head shot was most likely a stray round and not intentionally. This guy was probably aiming center mass.
