A bit off-topic, but why haven't car manufacturers created hybrid cars that use a diesel engine + battery? There are lots of petrol-electric hybrids, but not diesel.
well i suspect we will see such cars first from a european car company: the japanese are on the front for gasoline powered ones but they simply lack any know how in regard to diesel
just look at their european diesel line up where i suspect 70-80% of all their diesel options are in reality just an engine they bought and slapped their name on the cover
VW is actually working/worked on a diesel range extender hbrid system for their recent small car concept projects, like 'up!" etc.:
it combined light weight materials throughout with an electric engine for normal driving and for highway speeds and extending range a small 2 cylinder 0.8 liter diesel engine optimized to run at constant speeds
quite clever actually .. the overall output combined still was around 70 hp or so which combined with a low weight of the car (800-900kg) still was juicy enough
looking at the very current and very genius Fiat Twin Air engines i have to say that very refined turbocharged small displacement/ few cylinder engines are actually the next step over the overly complicated hybrid systems

For a start HD-DVD players can play in 1080p, its just the xbox360 that cant. Th HD-DVD player which comes out for it may be able to, I dont know yet.
Secondly, its not whether it has a blu-ray drive alone, if it did then there is no point buying it, just buy an extra hard drive. It has to have an HDMI connection so that it will also work as a blu-ray player in your HDtv.
I have both an xbox 360 (and I will get the HD-DVD player for a steal I might add) and a Sony Vaio AR with blu-ray hooked up to my HDtv. Yes it is expensive, but when you see the quality its definitely worth it.
I am going to steer clear of the Playstation3. The ps2 and psp just didnt impress me enough, although it will win the console wars simply because its a PlayStation. When you think about it, it has never really had the best console, N64 was better and would have won the first war had it not been on cartlidge and the xbox was better because of the online play, the ps2 was shocking online.

I want new displays & new airport extreme.
Just this weekend, I went to my local apple store. I was extremely close to purchasing a 23" lcd display and the airport express. But then my sub-conscience voice started to talk to me and advised me to wait just 1 more week, to see what apple will offer. I cant wait for this event to roll around
and get no sleep in anticipation of what will be released it happens every year.

You just described a touchless OS X. It does exactly that...
How does having these features make it "touchless"?
Oh, you will always be able to run Xcode on a Mac. You'll just have to buy the developer subscription for a few thousand dollars per year in order to get it activated...
Actually, a few months ago, Apple changed the developer programs to be only $99 a year.
One thing I'd like to see is a stylus that can be used with this & an iPad. Before I get flamed, hear me out. It wouldn't be just stylus only. It'll work just the way it is with your fingers, but also use a stylus for fine work like a painting/drawing program. Some people have bulky fingers that are too imprecise for drawing.
I gess you mean OS XI or OS 11.0
Yeah. I just don't see the whole Mac OS UI being totally revamped to the iOS in just a point upgrade (ie 10.7). This would require a full upgrade as in Mac OS XI, 11, or whatever it would be called.

The trolls are out in force today. They seem to be taking cues from the political world where Google is apparently broken. 40% of the population cannot -- or will not -- independently verify claims, and a whole ecosystem has grown up to help insulate them from reality.
Yes, Mr. Al Coholic, iPads do have multiple applications. Your apparent belief that all applications must be promoted in every ad is at best impractical.
If you were able to understand the subtle message of this new ad I wouldn't have to explain to you that this positions the iPad against other tablets with *some* applications and *some* technical spec advantages by saying it's all about the user experience.
The very first brochure we did for the Apple II did the same thing with the headline "Simplicity is the Ultimate Sophistication." How many companies are still operating with the same philosophy 30+ years later?

As much as I want an Air, every time I'm in an Apple Store I drool over the 27" iMac. There's just something about that beautiful aluminum behemoth sitting on a desk that says I'm in the right camp.

Why would Apple release an iMac refresh a couple of months before a new OS debuts? Also, this would be the FASTEST REFRESH IN APPLE HISTORY at 9 months.
You all fell for the hype and made Bri@n T0ng (eat that SEO) and Sea-NET advertising revenue.
Not correct. Since the launch of Intel iMacs there have been three occasions when refreshes are shorter than 9 months so it's not unprecedented. What would be unprecedented would be simultaneous release of hw and sw so that is unlikely.

I hope the same thing, was planning on buying one to.
Is Germany going to raise their taxes ?? To how much 20% 21% Like in Belgium ... Way too high

Yep. And Milk. Steve Jobs will climb down your chimney, eat the cookies, and pour the milk into any PCs he finds in your house :)
Well he won't find any PCs! Our house is PC free. We have a PowerMac G5, iMac G5, Powerbook G4, and a MacBook. He would be very happy :D

There's not even a tiny chance that Apple would release something that daft.

What history? Developing crappy integrated graphics?
I missed writing "SMALL performance edge". Sort of like AMD's CPU's these last five years? Oh, guess we shouldn't talk about that.
My assessment is not based on a small performance edge. It is based on Fusion enabling a whole new set of functionality thanks to OpenCL and DirectX 11 class hardware.Whole NEW set of functionality? OpenCL's vaporware status has been around since Snow Leopard was introduced with a ton of Macs supporting it as soon as Snow Leopard was released. Nothing uses it, and if anything does it's hardly beneficial. You still haven't shown me what wonderful OpenCL apps you use. I'd love to hear what they are, I've been looking for something that uses OpenCL since Snow Leopard was released in 2009 only to find that NOTHING actually leverages it in a way that's beneficial or noticeable.
Oh, and on that note why the hell are you even mentioning DirectX if you don't use Windows? DirectX has no relation to Mac OS X.
I established my preference BEFORE watching that video. That Sandy Bridge performs so poor in that demo just confirms my choice.Once again, if you NEED such powerful OpenCL support then buy a Mac with discrete graphics. What the hell are you doing that constitutes the need for OpenCL? You still haven't answered my questions. All you are doing is avoiding them.

One thing that's been frustrating me since DP1 is that when you minimize a window into its app icon it's sort of in limbo. Mission Control won't show it, nor does app expose (at least in some apps). Swipe-up on the dock icon (is this app-expose?) does sometimes, but it's mingled with recent files. Add that to the indicator lights being gone and I could have an open app with 20 minimized windows and totally forget about it.
It's not a huge deal, I suppose, but it makes the window management seem broken. I'd hate to go back to using the old-style minimize to the right side of the dock. I never liked that because it mixed those windows with stacks and got messy, plus it stretched and shrank my already-full dock.
Anyway, anyone else bugged by this? Am i missing something? Expose is the single most important thing to me in OS X; I rely on it to greatly speed my workflow. I like mission Control but this needs to be addressed. And, yes I filed a bug report for each DP release on this.
