Spot Varnish or the usual abbrevation: Spot UV. Love them in the right place.
Super glossy. Often run over a matt laminate to heighten contrast between different textures. Usually set up as a different channel within the same artwork, either as vector (often type) or bitmap.
Allow a little extra time for the printers to do it.

FTP IS supported in Safari, kinda. What it does is mounts its to your desktop just like a shared folder or network connection. It's pretty spiffy. Might want to make sure if you are passive FTP or not. That may make a diff on your server.
That's a big kinda. All it does is call on the FTP built into Finder. Personally, I ftp via the terminal.

Hey,
I am sure that this has been answered before, but with the new iMac's released I am in a need of some clear advice. I have a 3 year old white macbook, which I have used to death, upgraded the HDD and Ram and loved it (it was my first Mac. I am now down to my last 15GB of HDD and am thinking now is the time to upgrade...
So the issue is iMac or Macbook Pro? I love the portability of the Macbook Pro but I have an iPad 2 which I can take out with me for email, pictures etc. My idea was to go for a baseline iMac which can then be my central hub. In time I can then consider buying a new laptop (possibly an Air) and use the iMac in the future as a secondary screen?
What would people do? Will the new iMac with Thunderbolt allow it to be a secondary screen (I appreciate the Air hasnt got Thunderbolt yet but all in good time..)?
I will use it for video, photos and storing all my libraries on?
Let me know your thoughts!
Cheers,
Sean

Basically anyone reputable will make cameras that will work with iPhoto (except the 20D, but that's an SLR). If they don't, then what are the chances they make a quality product?
Don't buy a kodak,HP,Sony. Stick with CAMERA companies (Kodak makes film, not cameras) like Nikon, Canon, Pentax etc.

I've got a wired Mighty Mouse I have no need for. It's barely used, which means the scroll ball is very clean. I'm looking to sell this for $20 shipped. I accept PayPal and will ship to the lower 48 states in the US. If you want me to ship it elsewhere, you will need to cover the extra expenses.
Send a PM my way if you're interested.

Do you know if any of them fit the MBP? I'm missing 2 of the shiny flat headed philips head ones that go around the sides of mine. they're fairly small and short ones.

Hi flinko,
please try to lower the TVs resolution when it ISN'T plugged in the Mini (start the TV without being hooked-up to the Mini, find the 'Settings' for the TV res. & see if you can set it lower so your Mini can communicate with it & then you can adjust the res. from the Mini later on).

Thanks - ok what about using something like mail or entourage? Can those apps run at the same time as Outlook? And can I use them to access my 2003 mail (even though it's only accessible via OWA)?

Thanks everyone!
kidwithdimplez - my understanding is third party apps can only sync over wifi, so not over 3G/cloud unfortunately.

Hi guys and tks for your comments and suggestions.
I dont mind buying another Office 2011 for the other Mac so no drama's there.
I have just checked with our UK service provider and they have just now enabled IMAP on our account :)
So all should be good now.. I will install Outlook 2011 on both mac and setup as IMAP...
Tks

821-0814 is not an Apple part number. I verified it. There are often part numbers listed on the cables that have no correlation to Apple's actual part numbers. My guess has always been that they're FoxConn part numbers.

Release
Rumours are already beginning about the expected June/July release of this high profile gadget. The release is definite, Apple always release it this time and its not likely to change. Engadget supports this view.
It has also been announced that the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference is in fact on the 6th June. So perhaps there may be an early release there.
Thanks for the laugh!

Everything that was said above is correct but I would suggest using Homebrew (https://github.com/mxcl/homebrew) instead of MacPorts.

Yea, you should notice a pretty big increase in performance if you go from the x1900 to the 5770. Almost double the performance if not more I think.

A friend has cracked the glass on her 2G iPod Touch, other than that its fine, so i'm wondering, is this (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Screen-Glass-Digitizer-Replacement-Fr-iPod-Touch-2nd-2G-/110587959445?pt=UK_CE_MP3Access_RL&hash=item19bf8e5895) all i need to get to swap in, obviously swap the button over too, but am i gonna walk into any difficulties? Obviously i'm confident enough to offer to do this, but i mean peeling stuff off with risk to break etc?
Cheers

Howdy. I recently bought Drive Genius 3 (v3.1 is read on the label). I wasn't able to boot from the disc so I contacted their support - anyone else have that problem?
I did hook up two drive chasses to my MBP and did a successful drive cloning from the source disk to the destination (so it's worth the money), but has anybody tried the defragment utility? If so, is it worth the time to use?
Thx!
1. Apple controls the release of the information (code) needed for companies to create bootable system disks so they always lag behind, and can't boot the latest models. See Alsoft's homepage (Disk Warrior) for a complete explanation.
2. There have been countless threads here on the merits/demerits, necessity, etc. of defragmentation. In short, improvements in the OS and HD technology have made it almost unnecessary, except for users who use very large files, like video rendering etc. OS X automatically defragments files up to 20MB anyway, so the time spent defraging a disk is considered by many to be a waste of time.
3. I haven't used the disk cloning function of Drive Genius, so I can't comment on it, I use the latest version of the freeware application Carbon Copy Cloner, which is excellent, by the way.
4. If you can't boot from the DG disk, copy the application to a bootable clone on an external drive, boot from that disk to run DG or other disk utilities, or to run the defrag application if you want to see if it improves your drive's performance. (make sure you have your data backed up and that you have the time required, it can take several hours for a large, fully used disk).
