Someone posted a screenshot of the banner ads in the Spymac Gallery, and the guy who bought them responded. He basically just did it as a thank you. The self-serve ad system lets you buy 1000 impressions for $10 (or $5 for the small banner below the shoutbox).
Kind of weird, but whatever...

"iSee iTunes" is a Tivo HME application that acts as an remote graphical display and remote control for iTunes including:

* Song title/album/artist display
* Duration/current play position display/control
* Next/Previous song control
* Star rating display/control
* Playlist display/control with shuffle toggle
* Party Shuffle display/control
* iTunes computer name display
* iTunes operation via host computer triggers display/control updates
* Checks for new version and displays on host computer splash screen
No iTunes Audio will come from the TiVo, this is meant ONLY for controlling iTunes. If you want to hear audio from outside your computer system you should connect an AirPort Express with AirTunes or the host computer itself to your stereo system.

I heard there's an option in Universal Access to limit the mouse's maximum cursor speed.
Does that apply to games as well ? Anyone try ?
Maybe messing up with that slider might enable a more linear and windows-like mouse acceleration.
OS X's mouse acceleration is known to be really jumpy and annoying. I got used to it for desktop and strategy games (still a bit annoying) but for FPS games they're just unplayable.

seriously, it could be bundled with new computers... apple provides everything else, why not a tool to get everything moved... i've not had a chance to see that switching software in use, but i bet apple could make it even easier :)

Hello all,
Weird question, and hoping for some guidance.
Ihave built a light box and put a big pile of unspooled yarn in it. In the picture, the pile of yarn is off to the left, and there is a single strand (leading to the end of the yarn) stretched horizontally across the front of the picture. I'm trying to figure out a way to either:
a. transform the straight line of yarn and manipulate it into text shapes (probably something cursive-like), so I can make it spell something.
b. create a "yarn" text effect that I can drop into the area.
I'm basically trying to make the single strand of yarn spell a word. I'm halfway decent with this kind of stuff, but still trying to figure out how I might accomplish something like this.
Not even sure if this makes any sense! Heck, if there's even a "yarn" font out there that anyone knows of, I'd even use that and blend it in with the photo. Thanks for any direction or advice!

I thought a little about why the MBA doesn't have ethernet. I think it comes down to this: an RJ-45 jack used for ethernet is larger than the MBA. So if you did have ethernet you'd need some kind of (proprietary) dongle arrangement.
The physical space of the MBA prevents more than about 4 ports even if they are small. One is power, one is video. That leaves 2 at most. Would you rather have 1 USB and 1 dedicated ethernet (with a dongle) or 2 USB where one USB can be used as ethernet with a dongle? I'd rather have 2 USB. And eventually the video will double as a Thunderbolt port.
Given that 802.11n pretty much approaches ethernet speeds, that pretty much seals the argument for no ethernet.
If you really want ethernet, get the Apple USB/Ethernet dongle.

There are other issues besides your maximum DL speed or that of the source. Your or their ISP could throttle download speeds for any number of reasons.
Then there is the issue of "hops", meaning how many points between you and the source it takes to make the connection and their capabilities.

Did you try changing the setting in displays from or to 720 or 1020, if the Mini is sending a single at 1020 and the tv only supports 720 this could be the cause of the problem. If not reset the SMC (System Management Controller)? To do this unplug the Mac and hold down the power button for 5 sec. More info: (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964).
If you can try this:
1. Connect to just the TV via HDMI and see if you get an immage
2. Connect to your HP display using an HDMI to DVI cable if available
3. Boot from OS X CD (when connected to TV through the HDMI port), if issue resolves it is a software problem
4. If nether of those work you will need to take it to an AASP, according to to service manual for that mini it could be eater the RAM or mother board that could be the issue, RAM could be tested if you had another computer with compatible RAM to swap with it

Hey guys,
I sold my refurb 24" ACD on ebay and it was working perfectly. I packed it up and shipped it out.
A week later the guy that bought it said that the fan was not working and there is a red vertical line down the right side of the monitor. I filed a claim with UPS but they denied the claim, because, it seems to me they just dont pay claims and insurance is worthless. (They said it could not be proved the damage happened in transit, which I understand but WHY OFFER INSURANCE!!!!!)
Anyhow, I have an appointment with a "genius" tomorrow and was curious if anyone experienced this and what I should be expecting.
PS. The buyer of the ACD claimed he had another ACD and this is how he knew the fan was not running.
Thanks

No, not really. If there aren't any jailbreak only applications on it I'd say it's not jailbroken.
I guess you could plug it into a computer and see if all the applications show up in the application organizer. If not all applications are there then it's likely that it's jailbroken.
Thank you, I'll try your suggestion.

How about and automatic playlist feature that will list every song that other people suggest with the songs you have recommended?
You could have another list with If you like this song, then these songs recommended on songs that others recommended first and that you recommended later.
That way I could access others' recs for songs I like easier!

Interesting to note that Apple's shareholder news headlines ATI's launch of the Radeon mobility 9000. (why?) Also of interest is that it's scheduled to ship in Sept.
This may lend credibility to rumors that there will be a new PowerBook announced at / near the Paris expo.
