Personally I'm getting tired of Apple and their color choices. You have to pay more for black? What if you want 8 GB but you don't want black? What then? I'm not liking the approach Apple is taking on the color choices of their products.
I guess that if they hand't released black model at all, everybody would be happy. Same thing with MacBooks. Had Apple only released the two white models, no-one would have complained. But when the announced a pricier third moder, the BlackBook, the whining started.
Don't want to pay extra? Then don't.

Yeah I know people who hacked Tiger and hacked Vista too, but most people will buy the OS. You don't make billions if no one is buying your product.
All of the people I know (except the ones who got their windoze bundled) did not "BUY" their windows, but still use it on their PCs.. ;)
Run on a G3? How well. I use to have problems with the speed of Panther on my G4 iMac.
$239 for a bloated DRM infested OS is outrageous.
I've tried several Vista betas and IMHO it's a pile of crap. It's arguably the largest (unecessary) resource hog of an OS that I've ever seen.
I see more visual effects in OSX and it's 10000000x easier on a computer. For crying out loud, OSX runs on G3s. 6+ year old computers. On the other side of the coin I guarantee you that you won't see Vista running on a Pentium 3...ever.
Microsoft is dropping the ball with Vista big time. 6 skus (3 for home users, 3 for businesses), ridiculous hardware requirements, and this pricing is the icing on the cake.
I'll stick with the 1-2 combo of XP and Win2k for my Windows computing; thanks for offering though, Redmond. Try again.

UGH why haven't they updated the MBP's yet?? Apple has totally dropped the ball on this year's college students for sure (at least those looking for apple laptops). My girlfriend is required to buy a MacBook Pro for interior design, and I keep telling her to wait because Merom has got to be right around the corner.
What about the laptops???? MBP's haven't been updated once and iMacs have been getting all the love. Count it!

..hmm... as many of you know .mac has really been struggling in the past few months.
Prediction:
Steve will announce an all new .mac service, with web based applications reserved solely for .mac members. Also a new feature will be the ability to store videos on your .mac which can be streamed to your iphone and AppleTV 2.
j.
I like the sound of that. I'd love apple to do something progressive with .mac.

Batteries with the Sony technology (used in Apple, Dell, and Sony laptops, among others) have recently been catching fire, with Dell recently recalling 4.1 million batteries.

Don't forget the iSight has been discontinued altogether in Europe due to the fact it contains some matertial that will kill you if you eat one or something like that! Maybe its days are numbered?
Now some said no ACD on the banner, new ACD with built in iSight anyone?

I think Mac sales are directly tied to the Halo affect of the iOS devices. The more they sell there, the more people open up to Mac as an alternative. With Lion having more iOS like interfaces, it will make it even more natural for new customers.
I think this is part of their strategy... that is, iTunes/AppStore/iOS ecosystem made them successful ($) and they have millions of loyal customers; they can transition these user, to Mac by making it have the similar features & feel.
I also think that part of their strategy is to much more aggressively roll out Apple stores to non-US markets to do this.

The link to the battery recall is changing. I've got at least 2 printout that do not match up! First time the link took me to Depot.Info and then the last time it took me to Support.apple.com. These links are slightly different.

actually no, its 35$ per month if u subscribe to a 1 year commitment and 49$ per month if u extens it each month ... what a ripoff
LOL. :D I'm embarrassed for not reading their terms before I posted, because right after I submitted, I checked them out. :o
It's cheaper to buy. I only see this being good, if one needs to higher more temps than they have available licenses for a short period of time. But as is, I upgrade my various Adobe products on average every 2 or 3 years -- I used AfterEffects 6.5 up until CS4 -- so the subscription pricing is a joke.

Well it's gotten so bad that the ipods now need an ipod app button! what happened!? i don't even like ios to begin with. and who are you to laugh at this? I'm not going back to threads from 4 years ago to satisfy your laughter thank you. leave the damn apps for the phones or the ipads. I can say im laughing at all the people talking about how "horrible" the click wheel is to use but i don't, i could laugh at all the ppl with the out with the old and in with the new personality but i don't. Capacity is priority and i LOVE the click wheel alright? sorry for quoting you directly but it was me who said that they should leave the gadget business but you seem to have forgotten i meant this for the iPod lineup. i mean look at what the nano has become. a little square. i hate it. it looks like it could be an iWatch.
no, no. i can see how having an music player that doubles as a portable alarm clock and something to play tetris on in the doctor's office would be terrible. also, if tapping an orange square is really too much for you, there's always the option of leaving the ipod app open all the time.
at the risk of sparking another tirade, you kind of sound just as short-sighted as you were a decade ago. i mean, you can't really make an imperial argument that apple's shift to touch-screen ipods was a bad idea, because they sell like guinness on st. patrick's day. i truly am sorry that the "evolution of tech" has left you behind though, that must be terrible for you.

I'm definitely staying away from this update for now. Something about it actually just kind of scares me. It helps that my week 21 MacBook has only had the mooing issue and nothing else (so far). That issue has gone away with SMC Firmware Update 1.0, and I've had a great laptop ever since.
I feel rather lucky. :)

It would be really disappointing if they waited with this upgrade for mwsf 2007. I mean, what's new, apart from the very expected Core 2 Duo and the very slow upper hard drive option.
No, I expected at least a different Intel graphical chipset and an upgrade to 1 GB RAM over the full line. Also, it's still $1099, not $999.
Rather disappointing upgrade, Apple, whas this all you did in almost half a year of development?

I hope Apple releases a OSX update that enables that feature on my MBP... like the two finger click.
I cant believe they would put an extra feature on a consumer machine and leave out all us pro users!! :D

It represents leopard yes...nothing to be excited about...Apple told everyone that they were going to preview Leopard..the banner doesn't give anything away.

New iMacs released :
http://store.apple.com/Apple/WebObjects/ukstore
Couldnt see it mentioned anywhereYes it's on ours too. (http://www.apple.com/imac/) How come not on the cover of MacRumors!! 24" $1999 2.16GHz Standard with 2.33GHz option for $250 more.
NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT 128MB SDRAM
NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT 256MB SDRAM Add $125 NOT DUAL DVI - 1920 x 1200 Max Digital External Support - IE Dual 24" Displays. Analog res support up to 2048 x 1536
"The NVIDIA 7300 GT that comes standard in your 24-inch iMac provides amazing performance for most graphics tasks and games. Upgrade to the NVIDIA 7600 GT with 256MB of video memory if you need additional performance in 3D and graphics-intensive applications such as multiplayer gaming or 3D animation development.
Your iMac also offers built-in support for attaching an external monitor using either of two modes. Extended Desktop mode allows you to work on two monitors at once for increased desktop real-estate (and increased productivity). Video mirroring is useful when presenting, so you can see the same image on a projector that you're seeing on your Apple display."
Supports 2GB Sticks of RAM. Offer one for +$750 - total of 3GB RAM probably could have 4. 667 DDR2 SDRAM. Base is 2 x 512 for 1GB included.
Congratulations on scooping MacRumors phatspider. :D
So loaded with 2.33GHz and 256MB Graphics is only $2374. Not bad. Plus third party RAM.
Maybe the big story here is that a base 1.83GHz with only 2MB L2 cache 17" model with a Combo drive, 512MB ram, Intel GMA 950 64MB IG is only $999. Now that's exciting. BUT for ony $200 more - $1199 - you get Superdrive, 1GB RAM, 2GHz w/4MB L2 cache, ATI Radeon X1600 graphics with 128MB GDDR3 memory, Bluetooth2.0, Apple Remote. That's a lot mroe stuff for only $200 more so they are making the $999 model very unattractive and low volume seller.
Ironically, the ATI Radeon X1600 graphics with 128MB GDDR3 memory that supports rotation on an external Dell monitor is not available on the 24" model. NVIDIA does not support Dell Rotation. So if you want to be able to rotate a Dell 24" monitor, you will have to buy the 20" iMac. Now that's crazy!
On sale, Dell 24" Monitors are only about $700. So for $2200 you can have a 20" iMac paired with a 24" External Rotatable Dell.
