I've got an iAd in my iPad app (just dragged and dropped in xib, and then linked to IBOutlet to code) that once the user opens and closes it, an item also disappears from view (segmentbuttons that are set up via code).
If I could just intercept the code when it closes the iAd I could reinstantiate the buttons, so my question is what function is called when the user closes the iAd?
You may want to read over https://developer.apple.com/library/ios/documentation/UserExperience/Conceptual/iAd_Guide/iAd_Guide.pdf

yeah, I agree, that's BS.....not every one wants the latest and greatest thing. There are some (me) that do, but the majority will buy what they "need" at the present time.

I was coming back from visiting my parents over the weekend and I noticed a strange line of aircraft lining up to land at O'Hare. I was thinking that the planes were way too close to each other to land safely. Upon closer inspection I noticed that they were helicopters, usually when you see more than one helicopter in Chicago either the Blackhawks win the Stanley Cup or President Obama is in town. Here are some pictures I snapped with my iPhone, you can sort of see that they are helicopters, I think Obama is in one of the two choppers on the right. Anyway, Happy 49th Birthday Mr. Obama (belated)!
The last photo was taken sometime in May (I think) Obama was heading south down Halsted right by my apartment!

I don't know what it is, but it isn't the HDD. If the HDD was dead, it would turn on, but you would get a little blinking folder with a ? in it. I will guess it is the logic board or power supply.

...For a newbie
I ordered Dreamweaver from apple.com and it should arrive in a day or so.
I have Dreamweaver MX for Dummies but I wonder if there is another good book that you recommend.
Also, is the book that comes with the program any good?
Thanks !

Although it has happened before, you can't really return something you bought from Apple online to an Apple retail store. The retail stores and online store are not connected. This is especially true since it's open and you don't have the packaging, because it would have to be sent somewhere to be repackaged. It messes up their inventory systems since it wasn't their product to begin with. It's kind of like buying an Apple product at CompUSA and trying to return it to an Apple retail store. I say it's happened before because I've seen really angry people at an Apple store be able to get a store credit, but usually only if they Apple store can resell it without difficulty (in original packaging and in perfect condition).
As far as sending it back opened to the online store, they will try to charge you a restocking fee. If you call and make a big fuss, especially since it's because because of a problem they had, they might take remove the restocking fee. But you will have to pay for shipping. The best thing for you to do it call Customer Service and explain nicely your issue and see what they say. Since it's only been 4 days, they should definitely take it back, even if they do charge the restocking fee (back when I worked at an Apple retail store, it was 10% so I assume it's still that).

Go ahead and update your iPod to 4.2.1. You can do it straight from iTunes. Could you tell me what operating system you are running?

Seeing as I have a grand total of about five posts in two years, I'm not offended at all :P
Sysops are commonly used to patrol all the edits to make sure that bad content doesn't creep in - reverting edits back to where they were if an edit was bogus. (They use that "Mark edit as Patrolled" link)
It is a mild pain in the rear to constantly be patrolling edits - so the "glory factor" of being a sysop on something that everyone can edit in the first place isn't very high :)

I was looking for a case that wasn't bulky, but still gave protection and felt good. I found this Griffin Reveal and it is really nice. It has a rubberized sides, top and bottom and a clear polycarbonate back. The cutouts are perfect and it really protects the phone. I ordered it directly from Griffin. It was part # GB02356. It cost $24.95. You might find it at other places cheaper. My IPhone is a Verizon 4g and it fits perfectly. Comments?

I also have Server running on a Mini. The disks that ship with the Apple machines (usually have a dark grey color scheme) are CUSTOM to the machine they ship with and usually (in my experience, always) do NOT install on anything other than that precise configuration. I learned the hard way trying to configure RAID on the two included 2.5" hard drives. If you have a RETAIL version of the server operating system (a disc with a picture of the Snow Leopard on it), then you should have no problem installing assuming there are no Intel/G5 issues. Also, the Xserve itself should have come with install discs that were "native" to it, so that would be aother choice you could explore.

The Apple Store in the Westchester Mall is FULL of iPhone 3Gs. I was there today around 5, there is no line, and behind the counter are just boxes of iPhone 3Gs, everywhere. I would guess around 40 or so visible, from just one counter. In the back, in the other side, or another counter they may be even more. People were buying them nonchalantly as if they were available for months.
Unless I havent heard something about the lines, if you are in New York City or anywhere on the Metro North Harlem Line, take the train to North White Plains and you can get an iPhone 3G easily.

I am not sure what kind of PB you have but if it is 12" then you are maxed out (I think) I know that the 15" and 17" can have 2GB. Now if you have a 15/17" and want to max it out to gain speed I would not worry about it unless you are doing lots of RAM intensive things... If you are a TRUE multitasker and always have tonnes of things open then maybe it would be good. But what I would suggest is to open activity monitor over the next week and monitor RAM usage as well as page-outs to your hard drive to see if you are low on RAM. And remember that inactive RAM to OSX is just like free RAM so don't worry if most of your little pie chart is blue! If you are not low on RAM then adding more will give you no increase in speed. Good luck to you!

I still have an iPod 1G that syncs with a MacBook running iTunes 10.1. No problems at all here. Can't imagine a minor revision like iTunes 10.1.2 would make any difference.

I recently purchased my first Mac (17" iMac 1.8 GHz G5--hasn't arrived yet), and I'm trying to get acquainted to the Mac way of doing things. The Terminal command line really intrigues me, and I'd like to learn how to use it.
I was noticing on this Expose' demo from Ambrosia software (http://www.ambrosiasw.com/news/upcoming/images/spx2_panther_expose.mov) a Terminal window that displays the CPU usage as well as the resources consumed by each open process.
Anyone know the command sequence used to get this info?
Any other useful terminal commands would be helpful.
Thanks!

Depending on your budget, have you considered an iMac and a base iPad? That way you would get the power of the iMac with the portability when needed with the iPad

Hi,
Here is my setup.
1* broadband modem (fibre 1000Mpbs)
1* airport express base station.
my aebs is distributing the signal from modem
various peripheral devices (couple laptops, iphones, ps3, atv) all connected and working great via wifi.
now, i'm trying to take advantage of my fibre speed for vuze use (aebs wifi is the bottle neck) so have hard wired cat6 cable to back of aebs. it works great, but only in bridge mode! the problem i then have is that nothing can connect to aebs in wifi. so i turn off bridge mode (losing my phenomenal download speeds in vuze in the process) and my wifi is then again fine with everything being able to connect.
i'm not very good with all this stuff, but can follow instructions very well and hope somebody out there can point me in the right direction.
basically i want anything to be able to connect to wifi (with encryption in place obviously) + hard wired cat6 cable from back of aebs for vuze all without any restrictions.
thanks a million.
